Following the undeniable success of her single “Have Mercy” — and a year or so of viral song covers and experiments with solo tracks like “Surprise” — Chloe Bailey, aka Chloë, has surprised her fans by announcing that her first solo album is not only in the works, but already set to be released. The highly anticipated project, named In Pieces, was spoiled in a short clip Bailey posted to her social media and is expected to be out in March.
In the teaser, the Grammy-nominated singer hints at the intimate nature of the project, holding a scale that balances a human heart and a sphere. Since she voices out the lyrics “Wear my heart on my sleeve / They all say I’m naive / But it’s better than nothing,” fans are already predicting that the upcoming record will follow – as confessed by her in an interview with Essence back in 2022 – the artist’s journey on “breaking free” and finding herself.
When will Chloë’s album In Pieces be released?
Though the exact date is yet to be shared, In Pieces is expected to debut in March 2023.
What is the album tracklist?
The first “piece” of the record, the single “Pray It Away,” was teased in a social media post and will be released on Jan. 27. “Have Mercy” is also expected to be included in the record, although there is no official tracklist thus far.
They all share a common narrative, though: “Everything that I’ve been going through, all the tearing down, people underestimating, telling me I can’t do it… The album is me picking myself up and talking myself out of any little place or space that the world has tried to put me in,” the Atlanta singer previously stated about her solo work in an interview with Billboard.
Has the album cover been revealed yet?
Like the tracks and the official release date, the album cover of In Pieces still hasn’t been made public. However, the singer has already revealed visuals for the track “Pray It Away”:
Also, the new era, according to Chlöe, is likely to welcome a new aesthetic: Working with a team of stylists that include William Ylvisaker, Zerina Akers, and Jennifer Udechukwu, the artists expects to carve out a new look past her latest releases, like “Treat Me” and her collaboration with Latto “For The Night.”
Celebrities are already reacting to Chloë’s album announcement.
The other half of the duo Chloe x Halle – AKA Chlöe’s sister, Halle Bailey – showed her support for the announcement. “Wooooo!!!!!!” she commented beneath the Instagram post, blending in with excited fans and celebrities like City Girls’ JT, Janelle Monae, and Little Mix’s Leigh Anne, that, much like us, are counting the days down to March.
