There are many things I love to do in my free time – online shopping, doing my nails, reading romance novels, and my favorite: scrolling through TikTok. My latest fixation on the app has been about the dating life of everyone’s favorite TikTok star Chris Olsen. Olsen is a huge star and influencer on all platforms, even becoming friends with the hottest celebrities, with his most notable friendship being with pop star Meghan Trainor. Though everyone loves Olsen and his funny skits or antics on his TikTok, his followers seem to be more interested in decoding his love life, and right now, everyone wants to know who Chris Olsen’s new boyfriend is.
Olsen rose to fame on TikTok with ex-boyfriend Ian Paget, doing couple skits and comedic trends with one another, until their breakup in January 2022. Since then, Olsen has navigated his dating life and shared his journey with his followers. But one of Olsen’s latest TikToks has sent his fans into a spiral of theories.
Olsen had posted a TikTok to lip syncing a trend where someone asks “Who makes you laugh the hardest,” followed by “Who is the most beautiful person you know?” and then ends with the response “My boyfriend.” Olsen is seemingly resting his head against a man’s shoulder while smirking deviously, captioning the clip, “UHHHH MY BOYFRIEND 🤩🤞🏼.” Now, no one could figure out who the mystery guy was in Olsen’s clip, but soon after that TikTok went viral, another creator mimicked the same TikTok – in what looked like the same exact place.
Creator Patrick Johnson posted a TikTok on Sept. 18 to the same exact sound as Olsen, resting his head on a guy’s shoulder while lip synching the same dialogue, captioning the clip, “Comment below who makes YOU laugh the hardest!” This sent Olsen’s followers into questioning whether this was just a funny skit or something more.
Johnson is a newer TikTok creator with over 8,000 followers but does not post as consistently as Olsen. Johnson’s prior post was on Sept. 1, and before that, he hadn’t posted since Coachella in April. This makes me believe that there’s a significant reasoning for Johnson’s post, since he’s selective in what he uploads.
Sleuths then connected Olsen and Johnson from an Instagram post that Frankie Grande shared on Sept. 6, which included a carousel of photos documenting Beyoncé’s Renaissance concert. In the third photo, Grande and Olsen pose for a selfie, and guess who was clearly in the background? Patrick Johnson. Of course, at the time of the Insta post, no one thought twice, thinking it was just another concertgoer. But now it has fans questioning everything, and almost definitively answering the question of who Chris Olsen’s new boyfriend is.
Whether or not these posts point towards a possible relationship between the two creators, it’s undoubtedly been fun to connect the dots. Now if you’ll excuse me, I will be refreshing Olsen’s page the rest of the day waiting for an update.
