DJ-ing has gone too far. There, I said it! While there is nothing I love more than a good David Guetta mix during the summer, it seems that a lot of people want to become DJs now, and a lot of them showcase their talents on TikTok. Now, I’ve had it with most of these DJs, but there is one who I haven’t had enough of yet, and her name is DJ Mandy.Â
DJ Mandy (@Amandashultz_) is TikTok’s new star. She has been gaining lots of popularity on TikTok over the past two(ish) weeks for a pretty hilarious reason: she starts every video with a normal song and presses all those DJ buttons and dials to make it seem like she’s about to drop the hardest beat drop or sickest transition. However, it’s nothing like that. Instead, she will play a fire alarm, sad girl music, sometimes classical music, and so much more.Â
And let me tell you, she is killing it. DJ Mandy is a marketing and creative genius. I think she is gaining so much popularity because of how interactive she is with her followers. In nearly every video, she captions “Thanks for the feedback. Leave more tips” or “Learning how to DJ. Give me tips.” Then, she responds to a comment giving a suggestion on how she can improve her skills in nearly every video. Of course, she does the opposite and doesn’t follow the suggestion, but creates a hysterical, unexpected mix instead. While she hasn’t confirmed if this is satirical or not, I’m 99.99% sure it is.Â
DJ Mandy also goes on TikTok live nearly every night. This is where her best content is, IMHO. She has broken character a few times by laughing on camera, but she covers it up great like the girlboss she is — and her fans don’t seem to care one bit.
A Taylor Swift and Pitbull Collab? Yes, please.Â
Getting married soon or just planning your wedding? Here’s your first dance mix.Â
Drake fan? DJ Mandy has the best mix for you.Â
Even Charli XCX loves her.
Naturally, TikTok is loving DJ Mandy — her videos have amassed millions of likes, and her fanbase is growing by the day. Maybe, one day, Mandy will shock us all and upload a real video of her DJ skills (seriously, that equipment she has is expensive… she has to be real, right?). But, until then, catch me blasting her “Super Bass” remix.
