Babe, wake up! Doja Cat just announced the kickoff of The Scarlet Tour with special guests Ice Spice and Doechii, which starts on Oct. 31! This is her first-ever headlining arena tour across North America. The Scarlet Tour will mark Doja Cat’s return to touring since she had to pull out of The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour in 2022 due to tonsil surgery.
Despite her many award show appearances and the release of her Grammy-nominated album, Planet Her, Doja Cat has expressed her wish to quit music on social media, as she said some of her work was being called “mediocre pop” and a “cash grab.” However, Doja Cat has been hinting to her fans about her new rap album all over social media — even by playing snippets of songs on her IG Live. She even released a new single on June 16 titled “Attention,” where she showcased her rap skills and responded to criticism of her appearance and her career shifts.
In an interview from early 2023, Doja Cat told Variety that she’s “going in a more masculine direction” with her next album, which has yet to receive a release date (though it’s promised to arrive sometime this year). The album is also said to incorporate more rap, even though Doja feels “a lot of people discredit me, so it’s nice to just put another one in the f*cking bucket for a great rap song.”
So while we wait for the new album to drop, here are some details about The Scarlet Tour.
The Scarlet Tour Openers
Not only are fans excited to see Doja Cat in all her glory, but the singer will be joined with special guests Ice Spice and Doechii! Ice Spice will be joining Doja for one half of the tour, and with her recent collaborations with Nicki Minaj and her viral rap on “Boy’s A liar, Pt. 2,” Ice Spice’s performance definitely won’t disappoint!
Doechii will be performing with Doja Cat for the other half of the tour. The two were at the 2022 Grammy Awards, and Doechii has spoken very highly of Doja Cat. In August 2022, she told Elle how much she admires Doja and her growth as an artist, saying, “I want to always get better, so for her to acknowledge me as somebody who is good enough and that she wants to work with me, it feels really good.”
