As flawed as it is, TikTok does give us one thing â Swifties solidarity. Whether it’s figuring out what to wear for the Eras tour or sharing their reactions to re-records, Swiftâs fans have been carrying TikTok recently. Most recently, some have hopped on the app to warn users not to wash their Eras tour t-shirts. And itâs not because it witnessed the same air as Blondie.
After paying ticket prices through the roof, the last thing that any Swiftie needed was a faded shirt. Some fans even waited up to six hours trying to get merch just for it to come out of the wash damaged. Her Campus reached out to Swift’s team for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication. Do a check in on the Swifties in your life who bought it.
TikTok user @raighsunshine posted a video saying that, even after taking proper precautions like turning their shirt inside out and doing a cold water wash only, their merch faded significantly. The video has over 17K shares and counting â Swifties are spreading the message.
The creator says that they never had this issue with merch purchased off of Taylorâs website.
After contacting Taylorâs team, @raighsunshine was told that, since it was purchased at the venue, there is nothing they can do. They provided the merch teamâs email, taylorswift@ugmstores.com for other fans who have had the same problem.
TikTok users in the comments are giving advice on how to preserve the merch. @fallingembers writes, âPSA yâall it seems like the ink doesnât set properly on a lot of the merch, if you cover the print with a piece of parchment paper and iron over it before you wash, then wash inside out in cold water separately you should be fine.â
Another TikTok user, @through_tylis_eyes, shares a similar experience with their merch. After washing it once on a cold cycle inside out, it still came out damaged.Â
âThis is so unacceptable, like, I spent so much money on this shirt,â the creator says. They ended up contacting the merch team and actually had better luck than most! The creator said that the team is working on getting a new shirt to them soon.Â
Others express frustration over the situation in the comments.
âTaylorâs merch team needs to be fired fr cause this is so sad [crying face emoji]â writes one user in the comments, which received 16K likes.
âThey told me they wonât replace mine!â writes another.
If you got an Eras tee, try to follow the merch care tips that users have been sharing. If yours is faded, donât be afraid to contact the merch team â between ticket prices and the $45-$75 merch, you deserve to be able to wash it!
