Getting your wisdom teeth removed: for the average young adult, it’s basically a rite of passage. It’s painful and frightening, and can even be a little funny (have you seen some of these aftermath videos?).
For Dua Lipa, the need for oral surgery to remove her wisdom teeth couldn’t come at a worse time. Eek!
Lipa’s surgery comes in the middle of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour, where she is the opening artist. She has canceled two performances in Brisbane on March 14-15. The “New Rules” singer sent her regrets to fans on social media, sharing a video where she is seen holding an ice pack to her cheek to help ease the pain.
Im so sorry to have to cancel some of my support shows with @brunomars. I’ve been performing with an awful pain due to my wisdom teeth and as advised by my dentist and oral surgeon I have had to have them imminently removed. pic.twitter.com/ST5rlerQq5
Lipa replied to her video tweet soon after, further extending her apologies and thanking the fans for understanding the situation.
I have been enjoying this tour so much and i’m so upset that life has gotten in the way but hopefully i’ll have a speedy recovery and make it back as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding xx

The London-born artist claimed her rise to fame in 2017 with her self-titled LP Dua Lipa, which included hits like “New Rules,” “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” and “IDGAF.” The album led to a record-breaking five nominations at the 2018 BRIT Awards, which took place on February 21. She was nominated for British Artist Video of the Year, British Single, and Mastercard British Album of the Year, and won British Solo Female Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Lipa has gotten the most BRITA Awards Nominations ever for a female solo artist.
We’re wishing her a safe and speedy recovery so she can get back to what she does best.
Her self-titled tour to promote her LP will resume in Hong Kong on May 1st, and she will make her way to the U.S. over the summer.
