It’s not necessarily uncommon for random people to pose as celebrities on social media. What is weird, however, is impersonating a celebrity doppelganger’s account — which is exactly what fans are realizing happened with this Zac Efron “lookalike” account.
As one Twitter user noticed earlier this month, the Instagram account of someone who looks a lot like Zac Efron had amassed a bunch of followers — over 20,000, to be exact. When she posted screenshots from the account, wondering how the heck it was physically possible for two people to look so alike, fans started to notice that something was off.
How on earth is this NOT Zac Efron??? pic.twitter.com/ptd1XMD92L

It turns out that this Zac Efron “doppelganger” was not only *not* Zac Efron, but he wasn’t even someone who looked scarily like him. The account, @juanceponce, which has since gone private (possibly as a result of being called out), was taking photos from other Instagram users and very realistically photoshopping Zac Efron’s face onto them. The dead giveaway was when one sleuth noticed one of the photos was taken from another celebrity’s account, and matched it exactly with the exception of the male’s face in the photo.
Its fake, the girl on the third picture is model joe collier’s girlfriend. See it for yourself they’re wearing the same jacket and its the same background which means he photoshopped zac efron’s head into joe’s. pic.twitter.com/3fBj1wY73Q

Meanwhile, we have so many questions. Manly, why? Was someone actually trying to catfish using Zac Efron’s (v attractive) face? Just practicing their Photoshop skills? Attempting a social experiment? We may never know the answer.
