We all know where we were when Fifth Harmony announced their hiatus on March 19, 2018. Since then, the members have been thriving individually. For example, Camila Cabello’s smash hit “Havana” was everywhere in 2019, and Normani delivered the absolute bop that is “Motivation” that same year. While fans are happy for the members’ success as solo artists, many have been aching for a reunion. The good news is that two of Fifth Harmony’s most underrated members, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane, joined forces for a duet of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” It dropped on Dec. 1 and it’s the first song any of the girls have worked on together in the last five years.Â
When Dinah and Ally posted a teaser of this brand-new holiday tune to social media on Nov. 30, it’s safe to say that longtime Harmonizers lost it. The caption in particular — “biggie n smallz comin at you live this Christmas ’23” — made fans emotional as it referenced the girls’ nicknames from the good ole Fifth Harmony days. Some things never change, right?Â
Of course, once the song dropped, fans were obsessed. The vocals, the outfits, the Christmas vibes — this duet came just in time for the holidays and I’m so here for it!
Even Lauren Jaregui, fellow Fifth Harmony member, took to Instagram to share her support for Ally and Dinah’s new holiday single. My heart seriously can’t take this.Â
Almost two months prior to the collaboration, Ally talked about reconnecting with her Fifth Harmony bandmates during an appearance on The Zach Sang Show. Noting that an official reunion looked “closer than we think,” she revealed that her friendships with her former bandmates were reconciling “in a healing and empowering way.”Â
The newly reunited besties got to catch up again in a Dec. 1 Rolling Stone interview. Ally shared her experience attending Dinah’s single release party after the two started to DM each other again. “It was like we didn’t ever leave,” Dinah said. Ally also described their recent interactions as healing, especially since the two had plenty of time to grow separately.Â
Oh, and this is just the beginning! The two singers are definitely keeping fans hopeful for more mini-reunions to come. Both Ally and Dinah expressed that they’re 100% down for a recording or writing session with any of the former Fifth Harmony members. Fans will just have to be patient, as they’ll put these projects out when the time feels right!Â
I’m so glad Dinah and Ally have come together to save Christmas. I couldn’t have asked for a better present than two of my childhood faves reuniting.Â
