Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) founder Scott Gerber kicked off the #FixYoungAmerica (#FYA) campaign earlier this month in order to reduce youth unemployment and the staggering cost of student loans.
“The realities of the new economy have been harsh to Generation Y,” he said in the campaign’s March 2 YouTube video. “Youth unemployment is an epidemic, but it also presents an opportunity, an opportunity for us to have a much needed conversation in America.”
In a 10-city bus tour, those involved in the campaign will publicize solutions to these problems with a media campaign and book that’ll detail information YEC compiled from experts across the country.
“The fact of the matter is most Americans have never heard of the solutions we’re purposing and for that reason alone we need your help, now more than ever, to help us get these solutions into the mainstream discussion,” Gerber said. “We can get our book and other ideas and solutions into the hands of every decision maker in America.”
To help with the campaign’s efforts, Gerber asked that people “pass the baby,” a way to send #FYA information to friends by sharing the picture of a baby with a customizable dialogue box.
From expanding Self-Employment Assistance to creating new Silicon Valley-equivalents throughout the United States, #FYA hopes that its efforts will help to recreate the concept of the America Dream for Generation Y.
