Amal and George Clooney are officially parents, and they couldn’t have picked cuter names for their newborns. The couple welcomed their first children, daughter Ella and son Alexander, on Tuesday.
The couple released a statement confirming, “This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine.” The new parents joked, “George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”
As USA Today reports, the heartthrob actor swore he would never settle down, let alone have kids. Everything changed for the 56-year-old when he met Amal in 2013. The lovebirds tied the knot in Venice, Italy, the following year, and now their little family has doubled.
The new dad opened up about having twins on Rencontres de Cinéma earlier this year. He said of fatherhood, “My favorite part is, you know, all my friends who are my age, and I have many of them, they’re already done. Their kids are all grown up and away to college and they are laughing.”
A source tells People, “This is very good news. We’re very, very happy. George is going to be a great father of twins.”
Welcome to the world, little Clooneys!
