Over this past year, fans have learned what the best PR for an upcoming film or show is. From Don’t Worry Darling’s love fiasco to The Idol’s behind-the-screen disagreements among the cast, it’s clear that drama is the best publicist.
The newest example of drama PR is Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney’s up-and-coming rom-com, Anything But You. Romance rumors have been flying between the two, spreading like wildfire across social media. (Her Campus previously reached out to Powell and Sweeney’s teams for comment, but didn’t hear back.) The drama that surrounds this new rom-com not only includes Sweeney and Powell’s on-and-off-screen chemistry, but the reported breakdown of Powell’s relationship with model Gigi Paris.
Powell and Paris first got together in 2020 — their first outing as a couple was captured while the two were on vacation in Mexico earlier that year. Amid the rampant chatter of Powell and Sweeney’s chemistry, Paris took to Instagram on April 26 to post a clip of herself with a cryptic caption. “Know your worth & onto the next,” she wrote, raising questions about her relationship status with Powell.
Now, Paris could be spreading self-love and positivity to her feed for no other reason than she simply wanted to, but also could be a subtle way to confirm her alleged breakup with Powell, especially during the whirlwind of fans shipping a relationship between Sweeney and Powell. Her Campus reached out to Powell’s team for comment on Paris’ post but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.
Adding more fuel to the breakup rumors, Paris reportedly unfollowed both Powell and Sweeney on Instagram this week. She also reposted an Instagram story on April 26 of an aesthetically-pleasing dinner setup that had the caption, “New beginnings.” Paris reposted it to her story, writing, “A perfect soirée👌🏼.”
Though this evidence seems sus, Sweeney seems to still be going strong with fiancé Jonathan Davino, who was spotted walking Sweeney’s dog on April 25. Sweeney and Davino got engaged in early 2022, and have been linked to each other since October 2018.
The rumors of Sweeney and Powell don’t seem to be cracking down anytime soon, though, with gossip account Deuxmoi posting a blind item of the two on Instagram Stories on April 27. The item alleged that a “male actor” (presumably Powell) had been “cheating on his girlfriend” with his coworker (presumably Sweeney), with neither of their teams commenting on the allegations because “it’s doing the film more good than bad in terms of marketing.” Her Campus reached out to Powell and Sweeney’s teams for comment on the blind item but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.
With no one’s reps coming forward to confirm nor deny any of these rumors, it isn’t likely this gold mine of celeb gossip will die down anytime soon.
