Gina Rodriguez can do no wrong in my book. She’s just started directing and producing in the film industry and continues to provide a relatable yet fresh perspective as Jane on her CW show Jane the Virgin. Given how much her star quality has increased in the last few years, it’s not surprising that Rodriguez would have less time to commit to the show, but now she’s dropped major hints that Jane the Virgin is approaching its end.
HelloGiggles reports that while speaking at the Create & Cultivate and Fossil Women to Watch pop-up event in Texas on Sunday, Rodriguez revealed a little bit more than we bargained for. Initially discussing her first time directing an episode of the series, Rodriguez said she plans to “do more [directing] next year – in our final season.”
Say what?
Seeing as The CW has yet to make any announcements about which of its shows are returning next year, fans are reassuring themselves by saying that Rodriguez could have incorrectly spoken. Jane the Virgin hasn’t even been renewed for a fifth season yet, but even if the network hasn’t revealed anything yet, it’s totally believable for Rodriguez to know about her show’s future. Season 4 of the show was renewed for only 13 episodes, allowing Rodriguez to pursue more projects throughout the year.
Hopefully The CW clarifies the truth about the show’s future soon.
