A Deep Dive Into The Viral Halley & Sophia TikTok Drama

At this point, it isn’t out of pocket for me to say that TikTok is basically a reality TV network. Whether I’m going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out if Niamh and Joe are still dating, or keeping up with every Colleen Ballinger update that comes up, I’m someone who needs to be in the know on all things internet culture. So, it shouldn’t be shocking at all that I’m taking in all the tea I can about the recent Halley and Sophia drama on TikTok.

Now, I can confidently say that I’m not a messy person. However, I am the type of person to eavesdrop on the table next to me in a restaurant — especially when tea is being spilled. (Don’t lie, you do it too.) For the past 24 hours, my FYP has been filled with all of the details regarding Halley Mcgookin and Sophia La Corte’s recent falling out. And, like much of the internet, I’m all ears at this point.

For those of you who don’t know who TF I’m talking about, here’s the brief. Halley and Sophia are both social media influencers based in New York City. Both creators rose to fame on TikTok, where they post beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content. In addition to TikTok, Halley hosts a podcast with her best friend, Jaz, called Delusional Diaries where the two gossip and chat about their life, internet culture, and other trending topics.

For months, the NYC influencers attended the same events, ran in similar circles, and even appeared in each other’s content. However, on Dec. 2, things got messy (and fast) when a Reddit page alleged that Sophia was seen out with Halley’s recent ex-boyfriend Reed Williams. Her Campus reached out to Sophia’s team for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.

Sucked in? Here’s the official deep dive on the Halley and Sophia drama on TikTok.

Halley and Reed broke up less than a month ago.

After around nine months together, Halley and Reed officially broke up in the early weeks of November. Since then, Halley has been adamant that there was no bad blood between the two. Man, did that age like milk, or what?

On TikTok, Halley has been open about her post-breakup healing, but things took a turn on Dec. 3 when Halley posted a TikTok to Taylor Swift’s revenge anthem “Karma.”

Halley’s TikTok was posted shortly after a snark Reddit post regarding Sophia and Reed went viral. According to the post, Reed and Sophia were allegedly spotted at the Ludlow Hotel in NYC cuddling over cocktails. The kicker? The alleged date took place just days after Halley and Sophia were hanging out at an influencer event.

Halley considered Sophia “a friend.”

Shortly after the news went viral, Halley took to TikTok to vent. In a video set to Lana Del Rey’s “Norman F*cking Rockwell,” Halley states that she and Sophia were friends when the influencer allegedly shot her shot with Reed.

“Ladies let me be your lesson. Never feel sorry for a man or defend him,” Halley wrote. “Because (not even 3 weeks after dumping you out of the blue) after you try to protect him he will go on a date with someone you considered a friend and were with the night before buying shots for!!”

Additionally, Halley posted a series of videos regarding her ex’s reaction to the gossip, saying, “At the end of the day, it’s always the man’s fault.”

However, despite spilling the tea, Halley has also been insistent about not sending hate to anyone involved in the drama. “I’m embarrassed this is even online TBH,” she wrote in a TikTok. “i never would have brought it to social media if it wasn’t for the fact that people started making videos and now i feel like i need to explain.”

After this post, Halley revealed that she would be officially commenting on the drama on the Delusional Diaries podcast. While many fans were expecting Halley to release new information, the podcast essentially recapped the drama and Halley’s experience so far. Throughout the podcast, she reiterated that she didn’t want anyone to send hateful messages to the parties involved, and just wanted to share her story.

So, did Sophia respond?

At the time of publication, Sophia hasn’t publicly commented on the recent drama. However, she did post a TikTok that fans are interpreting as “snarky,” using audio from the viral book The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo.

At the end of the day, Sophia and Halley are just two twentysomethings dealing with typical twentysomething drama — just on a much larger stage. While it’s totally normal to stay up-to-date on the details of internet tea, sending hateful messages to any person only does more harm than good. Regardless of whose side you’re on when it comes to the Halley and Sophia drama, keep your opinions in the group chat — not in their comments sections.
