The ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Cast Got Its New Harry, Ron, & Hermione

Updated Published

Even though it’s been over 20 years since the first installment of the Harry Potter franchise was released in theaters, the wizarding world is still a staple in entertainment culture. With a new land opening at Universal Studios and fans obsessing over the books on TikTok, the franchise has continued to grow rapidly these last few years. Plus, fans have been awaiting any type of news on the recently-announced HBO Max series, though many are proceeding with caution. And now, the Harry Potter TV series cast has its three main stars.

On May 27, HBO Max announced that Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Harry Potter himself have been cast for the upcoming series. Potter will be played by Dominic McLaughlin, Ron will be portrayed by Alastair Stout, and Hermione will be played by Arabella Stanton. Variety reports that over 30,000 actors auditioned for the roles after open casting calls were held last year.

Back on April 14, the adults of Hogwarts were officially cast. At the time, many fans voiced their concerns over which actors would be joining this new iteration of Harry Potter.

The six confirmed adult cast members entering the world of Harry Potter include John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. The announcement had fans voicing their thoughts on the new era of Harry Potter

When will the harry potter series be released?

The series is rumored to begin filming in Summer 2025, and apparently set to debut in 2026, with each season following the book series.

It may take over a year for more information about the Harry Potter TV show to be released before it debuts on HBO, but it’s safe to say that fans are watching out for what’s next in this new iteration of the wizarding world.
