A day I thought would never come: Harry Styles fans admitting he’s not entirely perfect. From his bold outfits to his meaningful music, there’s a lot the fans admire about Styles. But was that enough to protect them from getting the “ick”? Apparently not because the day is here — Harries are getting the “ick” and it’s all over TikTok.

The phrase “Harry Styles ick today” has over 69 billion views on TikTok. Fans have been coming to the app to spill their deep, dark confessions that Styles finally gave them the ick. This viral phrase is synonymous with Styles’ recent music video and acting career. I guess fans don’t like when he changes up his beloved look.

Facial hair and tentacles are where certain fans draw the line.

On Oct. 27, Styles released his music video for “Music For A Sushi Restaurant,” and let’s just say the Harries weren’t exactly head over heels for his look in the shoot. Styles’ showcased a beard in the video followed by some
tentacles for legs. The interesting look had fans screaming, but not in a good way. Some fans were simply shocked by seeing Styles without a clean-shaven face (and his typical body?), while others couldn’t get over the look and it was too late for them — they caught the ick.

This new ick revelation has fans spinning. The beard, tentacles, slime noises, and peculiar visuals from the music video have fans utterly distraught because they never thought that there would be one bad thing about Styles, but here we are. One fan came to TikTok and said, “Trigger warning. It finally happened. Harry Squidward Styles has finally had his ‘ick’ moment. God has forsaken us.” The comments on this video were mostly in agreement with statements like “super f*cking ick” and “everything about this gave me the ick. I didn’t even finish watching his video.” Mr. Styles, it’s OK — we’ve all had an ick moment.

Don’t Worry Darling is another source of the “Harry Styles ick.”

The “Harry Styles ick” isn’t entirely from his music video, however. Some fans have had the ick brewing from his recent feature in Don’t Worry Darling. Oddly enough, that ick too stemmed from Styles showcasing a rather scraggly look. There’s a scene where he’s sporting facial hair, unkempt long hair, a beanie, and glasses. This is all accompanied by him eating tuna out of the can.

Though it’s not actually Styles himself looking and acting like this in this movie moment, but rather his character, Jack Chambers, fans can’t seem to get the visual out of their head.  Fans turned to TikTok as an outlet to share the stress this has caused them. One fan said, “No because the musty, crusty, dusty ick this scene gave me is unforgiving.” Another fan said, “If Harry hasn’t given you the ick yet, here you go.” Comments under these videos reluctantly agreed, while others stood strong. One fan wrote, “Almost did it for me, but not quite.”

Will the real Harries please stand up? Some fans are standing by Styles’ side and find it nearly impossible to get icked out by him — a true testament to their unwavering love. Meanwhile, the “Harry Styles ick” seems to be having some repercussions for Harries. One fan went on TikTok to say this is the end for her Styles obsession. Others have found new icks as a domino effect, such as imagining Styles setting up his face ID.  As for now, I wish all the Harries that have gotten the ick a smooth recovery. Just remember: Icks are temporary, but being a fangirl is forever.
