The Florida State Senate Has Passed a Measure That Will Allow School Staff to Be Armed
The Huffington Post reports that on Monday, the Florida Senate passed a measure 20-18 that would create a program to allow school administrators (though not “instructional personnel,” a.k.a. most teachers) in the state to carry guns at school. The measure was passed as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act — the same one from which lawmakers removed an amendment that would have completely banned assault weapons in Florida. The bill, which also includes an increase in the minimum age required to buy firearms and a $25 million provision to rebuild the building at Stoneman Douglas where the shooting occurred, still needs to pass the state’s House this week before it will become law.

Bumble Bans Users From Posting Photos With Weapons
In response to the tragic shooting in Parkland, Florida, dating app Bumble has announced it will ban users who post photos posing with guns or other dangerous weapons to their profiles.
“Online behavior can both mirror and predict how people treat each other in the real world,” the company said in a statement to BuzzFeed News on Monday. “Bumble has a responsibility to our users and a larger goal to encourage accountability offline. As mass shootings continue to devastate communities across the country, it’s time to state unequivocally that gun violence is not in line with our values, nor do these weapons belong on Bumble.”
The new policy will, however, exclude military service men and women if they are holding the firearms while in uniform.
