Heartstopper might be the most wholesome show on the planet, IMHO. It’s got romance! Queer joy! Emotionally articulate people with British accents! Season 1 has a lightning-in-a-bottle type of warm and fuzzy vibe that Season 2 keeps alive with viewers’ favorite ship: Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring. In case you need a refresher: They became an official couple at the end of the first season (remember the beach scene?); now they’re figuring out how to make their relationship official to the rest of the world.
Now that Nick and Charlie are officially boyfriends, Season 2 gives us plenty of aww-worthy interactions and sickeningly sweet lines that will make you fall in love with them all over again. Try to not let your heart burst as I take you through Nick and Charlie’s cutest moments in Season 2 of Heartstopper that actually made me squeal at my screen. Spoiler warning: Spoilers for Heartstopper Season 2 follow.

Netflix In Episode 1, Charlie swings by a corner store before school and buys a Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo bar. We find out later that he bought it as a present for Nick on their two-month anniversary because Nick had once mentioned it was his favorite chocolate bar. How thoughtful is that? Nick’s clearly got good taste in chocolate and boyfriends! The way he says “You’re making me want to kiss you again” melts me as much as that Oreo bar probably did after being in Charlie’s backpack all day.

Nick posts pictures of Charlie on his Instagram a lot this season, but the first time he posts him in Episode 2 is the most special. It’s his first dip into the waters of coming out to his classmates. It’s no ordinary picture, either — Charlie’s wearing Nick’s hoodie in it. I need Nick Nelson to teach a masterclass on the art of medium launching a relationship, please and thank you.

Netflix We’re used to seeing Nick stand up to Charlie’s bullies, but this season flips the script. Charlie tells his longtime bully Harry to “piss off” at a party in Episode 3 because Nick doesn’t want to talk to him. That might be Charlie’s boldest move in the whole show; good on him for defending the people he cares about!

I mean, this one’s self-explanatory. The couple gets forced to sleep in different beds during their school trip to Paris in Episode 4, but they still manage to make the most of their predicament by holding hands in midair between their beds. It can’t be comfortable, but it sure looks cute!

Teddy Cavendish/Netflix New Nick lore just dropped: He’s fluent in French. Charlie and I both get equally flustered at how attractive Nick’s French skills are (whatever classes Kit Connor took definitely paid off). Calling someone “my love” in any language is romantic, but I won’t need to wear blush ever again after hearing Nick say it in French in Episode 5.

One bed plus two boys in the City of Love equals the cutest sleepover I’ve ever seen. It’s all very PG; Nick and Charlie are happy to just cuddle up in the same bed in Episode 6. As I said: This show is the definition of wholesome.

Samuel Dore/Netflix Nick and Charlie aren’t getting married, but they do have a first look at each other’s prom outfits in Episode 8. Charlie opts for a deep blue suit with a bow tie that’s equal parts geeky and charming. Nick beats the “men’s fashion is boring” allegations by wearing a sage green suit and tie. The moment they see each other and both of their faces soften is actually adorable.
If you need me, I’ll be fawning over Nick speaking perfect French until Season 3 comes out.
