I can’t believe it’s been so long, but A Walk to Remember is officially 16 years old! Based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, the story of Jamie and Landon slowly falling in love in a small town before encountering tragedy has made countless people smile (and cry).
Lead actors Mandy Moore and Shane West obviously haven’t forgotten how special the film is, because they each tweeted out super-cute throwback pics this morning:

Of course, fans of the movie (AKA all of us) were getting a bit emotional on Twitter.
There was crying.
I’m not crying. You’re crying. https://t.co/XnoMAzNmfm

This was the OG source for ugly-cry ing before the term “ugly-crying” became a thing. I still can’t watch this movie without blubbering by the end @TheMandyMoore https://t.co/SxEpfchN0f

And comparisons to This Is Us, in which Moore plays mother Rebecca Pearson.
I literally could not decide who i ship more, Rebecca/Jack or Jamie/Landon, even if my life was on the line. https://t.co/4kgMoyi2jH

There were even a couple of wonderful personal anecdotes.
Some sharing: My roommate walked in on me in college watching this movie after his class got canceled. Made fun of me. He sat down. I restarted it. We both ended up in tears. We never mentioned, and we both ended up fighting over who @TheMandyMoore would pick between us. https://t.co/VfV4jlRQBb

My husband and I watched this on one of our first few dates and it became one of our favs, both in memories and movies. Years later he suggested Landon for our son’s name. This movie will always be special to us. https://t.co/tB7ual87nR

In short, I think I’m not the only one considering doing a re-watch tonight — tissue box in hand, of course!
