As we all know, Taylor Swift dropped her Midnights album on Oct 21. The album is filled with relatable songs diving deep into Swift’s insecurities (and mine). One of the songs that gained instant popularity is “Anti-Hero,” which Swift shared as one of her favorite songs she’s ever written in a recent Instagram video.
“I don’t think I’ve delved this far into my insecurities in this detail before,” Swift says in the video. “I struggle with the idea of not feeling like a person.”
Other people, Swifties and all, must share similar struggles because “Anti-Hero” has been one of the songs to rise to fame on Tiktok. There are over 50k videos to the song where creators are explaining an insecurity or a problem typically brought on by their own demise, thus was born the “I’m the Problem” trend. The lyrics used in the TikToks are “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.” Creators are typically sitting mouthing the lyrics while doing whatever their “problem” is.
The Problem: Getting Back With Your Ex
This creator @kelseysoles shares their take on the “I’m the Problem” trend. And Kelsey, I’m with you. The sole anxiety of telling your friends you got back together with your ex (after you talked so much sh*t) is insane. One user even commented on this post, “and i will never learn my lesson!” Maybe we are the problem?
The Problem: “I’m Never Drinking Again”
We’ve all been there, waking up after a long night out and feeling absolutely disgusting. You vow you need a break from drinking. You tell yourself, I’m not drinking for a really long time. Then… well @lexxhidalgo describes it perfectly.
The Problem: Prioritizing Smut Over, Like, Everything
This TikTok speaks for itself. They’re so right: how can anyone possibly be expected to do any responsibilities when the fairy enemies are FINALLY becoming lovers? I’m the problem, it’s me!
The Problem: Having An Anxious Attachment Style
“Mirrorball” girlies, rise — this TikTok is for all of us. @keepingupwithhopie shares the harsh realities of living with an anxious attachment style, questioning literally everything. But @Bumble commented “self aware queen” so it’s safe to say it’s fine for now.
The Problem: Drinking Dairy But Being Lactose Intolerant
I swear it’s always the people who are lactose intolerant who love dairy way more than the non-lactose. I guess we all want what we just *can’t* have. But that’s not stopping @courtneyycahoon.
The Problem: The Sexy Baby Lyric
Yeah, this isn’t exactly “I’m the problem” trend, but this other clip from “Anti-Hero” also explains a hidden insecurity… in the Twilight Saga. The TikTok creator jokingly explains the viral lyric is actually referring to when Jacob (Taylor Lautner a.k.a Swift’s Ex) imprinted on Renesmee in Breaking Dawn. Sexy baby all makes sense now.
