While you’re fine-tuning the catering list for your quaint royal wedding party because Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding should be an international holiday, other celebrity couples are ending the era of infatuation in their own relationships. Though we’re still grieving Anna Faris and Chris Pratt’s separation, another unexpected celebrity couple has officially announced their split: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum.
According to PEOPLE, Channing and Jenna issued a statement on Channing’s Instagram account yesterday. In the post, the soon-to-be solo duo noted that they wanted to make their decision to divorce public because sharing their private life is just “a consequence of the lives [they’ve] chosen to lead, which [they] also happen to be deeply grateful for.”
Â
“We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple.  We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy.  Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna.” Channing and Jenna added in their post.
According to Fox News, Channing and Jenna have been together for the last 9 years, which might be why the end of their romantic relationship seems so amicable. However, Page Six alleges that the couple actually split around the time of the 2018 Oscars. Page Six reports that Jenna attended Vanity Fair’s Oscars party with her friends instead of Channing. Granted, spending some quality time with the gals doesn’t mean the two were plotting their split at that time.
The Mercury News notes that Channing and Jenna originally met on the set of Step Up back in 2006, which will make it difficult for us to rewatch the film during our bi-weekly movie binge. It feels like our celeb parents are divorcing and we can’t control our emotions. (TBH, I think I cried less when my exes broke up with me.)Â
As E! News helps us reminisce on Channing and Jenna’s picturesque love story (after all their love story basically apotheosized love itself), we don’t think our emotionally unavailable hearts can handle any more celebrity breakups. (Can we postpone any other potential celeb breakups until March 52, 2019?)
