Joe Biden, the lovable former vice president, recently lost his son Beau Biden to brain cancer. Biden was featured on “The View” on Wednesday (Dec 13) to discuss his new novel, Promise Me, Dad, which is about his son’s death, according to Hello Giggles.
The conversation took an emotional turn when Meghan McCain, the show’s new conservative point-of-view co-host and daughter of Senator John McCain opened up to Biden about how the book has helped her come to terms with her father’s recent brain cancer diagnosis.
There are no words I have to convey my immense gratitude to @JoeBiden and his family – your strength, hope and fortitude are an inspiration to me and so many others daily. Thank you for your kindness today and sharing your story with us @TheView pic.twitter.com/LYmAD5HaTq

Hello Giggles adds that Biden took her hand and consoled her. He talked to her about his own struggles, but how she needs to remain strong and have hope in this time.
“So there is hope,” he said. “And if anyone can make it, your dad – her dad is one of my best friends. I know if I picked up the phone tonight and called John McCain and said, ‘John, I’m at Second and Vine in Oshkosh, and I need your help. Come,’ he would get on a plane and come. The thing that I found – and Beau insisted on, your dad is going to insist on – is you’ve got to maintain hope. You have to have hope.”
Meghan McCain later tweeted out her to gratitude for Biden’s comforting and supportive words. What a heartwarming moment caught on live television.
