After being extremely vocal about her feud with Taylor Swift throughout the press tour of her new album Witness, Katy Perry claims that she is finally ready to forgive Swift for their years-long conflict. Us Weekly reports that in an interview with Arianna Huffington, Perry apologized to the hit singer, suggesting that an attempt at friendship between the women could be in store.
âI am ready to let it go,â Perry said on Huffingtonâs Thrive Global Podcast. âI forgive her and Iâm sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her. I think itâs actually like, I think itâs time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world.â
At this point, the Swift-Perry feud has become such a debate that no one is really sure who to believe. Itâs believed that the twoâs disagreements began when Perry supposedly tried to hire some of Swiftâs backup dancers, but I think everyone can agree that the twoâs digs at each other have gotten a little too petty in the last few years.
Luckily, Perry seems to agree. âI love her, and I want the best for herâŠI think that if we, both her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go like, âYeah, well we can do this.ââŠMaybe I donât agree with everything she does and she doesnât agree with everything I do, but I just really, truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion.â
My fingers are crossed for an equally classy and forgiving response from Swift, but if thereâs anything these two have taught me, itâs that apologies can be quite drawn out. Props to Katy Perry for being the one to say that enough is enough in this feud.Â
