School: CC
Major: English and a Mathematics Concentration
Hometown: Albuquerque, NM. Best city ever.
Relationship Status: Taken.
On-Campus Activities: Strolling to class, napping on the lawns. I’m not as involved as perhaps I’d like to be activities-wise though…
Off-campus activities: Watching and playing as much soccer as I can. Cooking when I have the time and motivation. Wishing my guitar and bike weren’t collecting dust in my room in Albuquerque.
Pet-Peeves: Hmmm. Don’t have too many, but I guess one would be when someone talks and talks for minutes on end in a Humanities or seminar class without saying anything insightful, interesting, or even cohesive really.
Dream Job: Published author-teacher who works at the brewery he owns in the evenings and hikes, bikes, and backpacks all over New Mexico and the southwest on the weekends.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, you would need: Good friends, great books, excellent beer.
Every guys needs these three things: A kind, sincere smile. Scarves. A jacket made by Patagonia.
Your perfect date in 7 words or less: No sleep. Park with hill. Sunrise. Pabst.
Favorite off-campus location: I know this seems lame, but I love the turf soccer field at Riverside Park off of 108th street.
Favorite thing about NYC: I can’t get over the fact that I can get excellent food of almost any variety at 4AM. THAT is cool.
Favorite class and professor at Columbia: Hmmm. Adam Cannon for Introduction to Programming in JAVA for my science-y fix, and Astri von Arbin Ahlander for Beginning Nonfiction Writing Workshop.
Spirit Animal: I tend to think I’m pretty lemur-like, whatever those black-and-white lemurs are called, haha.
Dream wife: Wow. Kate Winslet, I think.
One thing you want to do before graduating: Take a tour of Brooklyn Brewery, followed by a pint-filled afternoon in their tap room.
Top three albums/songs of all time: The Shins’ “Oh, Inverted World,” Cursive’s “Cursive’s Domestica,” and Damiera’s “M(US)ic.”
If you could have a super power what would it be and why: I really, REALLY want to be able to fly. Fast and high.
If you could invite anyone to dinner, you would ask: I think it’d have to be Cormac McCarthy. Dude’s old, crazy, and an incredible writer.
HamDel decides to name a sandwich after you (what’s it called and what’s in it): It would be called the “Sir Tojo” (a strange nickname I have from one of my best friends at home): Grilled asparagus, topped with caramelized onions, turkey pastrami, and melted Gouda cheese on a toasted Hero roll. Yummmmmmma.
