We all have that one awful comment that someone made about our appearance as teens that still makes us insecure today — yes, including Kylie Jenner.
According to Hello Giggles, on Sunday night’s episode of her new show Life of Kylie, Kylie opened up for the first time about the real reason she decided to get lip injections, after staying relatively silent about them for years. Her reasoning is *super* relatable: after a boy made a mean comment about her lips, she just couldn’t get it out of her head.
“I was 15 and I was insecure about my lips,” she said on the show. “I have really small lips. And it was like one of my first kisses and a guy was like, ‘I didn’t think you would be a good kisser because you have such small lips.’ But I took that really hard. Just when a guy you like says that, I don’t know, it just really affected me. I just didn’t feel desirable or pretty.”
We’ve all been there. While not all of us end up going the plastic surgery route to change something someone’s made us feel insecure about, Kylie’s story is an important reminder of just how big an impact words can have on teen girls who already feel pressured by society’s insanely unattainable beauty standards — no matter how famous you are. Also, boys are the worst — but you knew that already.
