I’ll just cut right to the chase: Season 6 of Love Is Blind is making me lose a lot of trust in men. To be fair, I don’t have a lot of trust in many reality TV contestants, but the men on this season of Love Is Blind have me questioning a lot of things.
Reality TV is entertaining for several reasons, the main one being, IMO, drama. While it can be entertaining for the viewer to watch the drama unfold, the messiness that’s on this season of Love Is Blind is a lot to keep up with. But ultimately, the drama has only been getting worse, and it looks like some of the women this season have been seriously hurt by it.
Now, I’d like to note that I’m not saying the women this season are innocent. Certainly, they have their fair share of slip-ups and faults of their own. However, when you look at the biggest issues this season, most of them are coming from men. And I’m not just talking about on-screen. I’m looking at all the details coming out about these men and their lives before and during the show.
Not to toot my own horn here, but I didn’t like Jeramey from the start. He gave me weird vibes, and overall, I just didn’t have a good feeling about him. I’m glad I trusted my gut on this because it turns out Jeramey is one of the newest Love Is Blind villains, both on-screen, and off-screen. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, allow me to fill you in.
Jeramey applied for Love Is Blind while he was allegedly engaged. His ex-fiance came through with the receipts, and while Jeramey did confirm he was engaged before filming, he’s claimed that everybody he went on dates with in the pods knew about this: it was just edited out.
Regardless of if what he’s saying is true or not, this is still so messy and shady.
And don’t even get me started on Trevor. I, like many others, adored Trevor. He was kind, reassuring, and overall a great catch. While viewers thought Trevor left the show heartbroken, that’s surely not the case anymore. I thought he was one of the good ones, but it turns out that Trevor was in a relationship while he was on the show. And his girlfriend is coming through with proof. If you want to learn more about this, here’s a full breakdown.
Despite these claims, it doesn’t look like Trevor is letting the negativity bother him. He’s allegedly going to be on Perfect Match Season 2, so it’s pretty clear what his intentions are in this: get some fame. Wanting to get famous by going on a show where you’re looking for a life partner while being in a relationship is some of the shadiest, most twisted things I can think of, truly.
While I could talk about the other shady male contestants (which, BTW, is basically all of them except Johnny), I’d rather focus on the bigger issue with all of this. While Love Is Blind is reality TV, and aspects of it are definitely fabricated/edited for entertainment purposes, this show is for people looking for their one true love. Of course, it’s not guaranteed that everyone will walk out engaged or ultimately end up married, but that’s the goal of the show.
So, how can these men go on LIB, knowing that they could either foster a connection with somebody they want to spend the rest of their lives with while in another relationship, or recently out of an engagement? It all feels very shallow, and if I were Chelsea, Laura, or even Sarah Ann in this situation, I’d feel extremely manipulated and hurt.
I’m finding it difficult to trust the men who are still in relationships on this show, and it’s truly making it hard for me to trust men in general now. Yes, this is reality TV. However, what are the odds that out of thousands of applicants, these are the ones who end up on the show?
I’m not saying I’m a man-hater or that you should be suspicious of your boyfriend/ a guy you’re talking to. What I am saying is that I, for one, am losing trust in men, especially the ones I’m watching on TV.
