These M3GAN Memes Are Taking Over The Internet (& My Brain)

While 2022 had some incredible memes (yes, the sassy Elmo meme was in 2022), 2023 is shaping up to be an incredible year for internet comedy. After everyone’s Twitter feed was flooded with the U.S. House voting memes, the internet stayed on a roll with the resurgence of the M3GAN meme. And let’s just say, it’s fantastic.

The latest cyber horror film, M3GAN, was released in theaters on Jan. 6, and ever since then, it has become an internet sensation. Following the story of a seemingly innocent AI doll, M3GAN is a film full of twists, turns, and — of course — murder.

Even though the movie preview has caused so much laughter, and memes, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the film has become a BlumHouse box office success, coming in second place in the charts following Avatar: The Way Of Water. The movie became a meme trend at first due to a recreation edit of a menacing and sassy dance routine from its trailer, but has since grown into a viral phenomenon. Other than becoming the murderous it girl of 2023, M3GAN has also been advocated as a queer icon and a much-needed creepy doll movie upgrade. Film-buff commentary aside, the film has been immortalized by its memes — and they are simply hilarious.
