There aren’t many movies I consider my favorite, but Mean Girls has ranked high on my list of go-to films ever since its release in 2004. It’s stood the test of time as one of those films you can’t help but enjoy and with the new Mean Girls musical movie hitting theaters on Jan. 12, I have a feeling I’ll be making it my entire personality just like I did with the OG film.
And if a new Mean Girls movie coming out wasn’t Grool (see what I did there?) enough, AMC will be selling Mean Girls merch that gives off ultimate queen bee vibes.
Mean Girls fans are going to want to get their hands on this merch ASAP because it’s only available while supplies last. Although none of the merch is free like the mini posters given out when Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie was in theaters, everything is affordable. Starting Jan. 11, AMC Theaters will be selling a Mean Girls popcorn tin for $15, a “Burn Book” popcorn tin for $20, Mean Girls double wall cups (one for $23 and the other for $17), and a Burn Book cup for $12. And did I mention that all of these items are collectible?
Again, this is only while supplies last, so it’ll probably be best for you to see this film on opening night because it’s likely this merch will go fast.
Tickets for the Mean Girls musical movie are currently on sale and can be bought online. As you probably already know, the film follows a new cast as they put a modern twist on the beloved early 2004 cult classic. The cast includes ReneĂ© Rapp, who plays North Shore High’s queen bee Regina George, Angourie Rice (Senior Year), Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Auli’i Cravalho (Moana), Tina Fey (Saturday Night Live), and more.
Since this is a musical movie, there will, of course, be a lot of singing and fortunately for fans of the original Broadway show, songs from the stage production will be featured in the film — but not all.
And even if you aren’t big on musicals, Rapp is confident that everyone who sees the new Mean Girls movie will enjoy it.
“This is a very specific version of the musical that has a really specific place in a niche, culty theater way, that I think expands it to maybe people who aren’t super into theater,” she told PEOPLE in April 2023.
As a former theater kid, I’m so hyped to see Mean Girls in theaters, and if you see me walking out with all of the movie merch, just mind your business.
