Feb. 12 was Super Bowl Sunday, but that day, social media was also filled with discourse about celebrity news that had nothing to do with football. On Sunday, rumors sparked that actress Megan Fox and rapper Machine Gun Kelly broke up, and Fox herself had some things to say about it. Her Campus reached out to Fox and MGK’s teams for confirmation of the rumors but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.
The couple started dating in 2020 after meeting on set for the movie Midnight in the Switchgrass. Although the film ended up getting shut down, Fox later starred in MGK’s music video “Bloody Valentine,” and the couple announced their relationship shortly after.Â
In January 2022, MGK and Fox announced their engagement. Since then, the couple has appeared to be happy in their relationship. They were even spotted celebrating Super Bowl weekend together, just hours before their rumored breakup.
On Sunday, Fox deleted all pictures of MGK from her Instagram feed except one photo from 2021. She also unfollowed her fiancĂ© on the app, and began following Eminem — a rapper who has had public beef with MGK.Â
Fox also posted a photo of a burning letter, with the caption “You can taste the dishonesty / it’s all over your breath.” The lyrics are from Beyoncé’s song “Pray You Catch Me” from Lemonade, an album allegedly about infidelity. Fans understood the caption, as well as the deleted photos and Fox’s following MGK’s rival, to mean that MGK had been unfaithful. Her Campus reached out to Fox and MGK’s team for comment but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.
The rumors seem to be that MGK reportedly cheated on Fox with guitarist Sophie Lloyd. One fan commented on one of Fox’s Instagram posts, alleging that MGK “got with Sophie.” Fox responded cryptically, saying, “Maybe I got with Sophie.” Her response only made fans more curious to learn what had happened with the couple.
However, on Sunday afternoon, Fox deleted her Instagram account completely.Â
MGK has not commented on the situation, and at this time still has photos with the actress on his Instagram account.Â
The internet has had many thoughts on the situation. On Monday Feb. 13, Fox herself was trending on Twitter, and thousands of fans were tweeting their thoughts on Fox’s Instagram updates. As of the time of publication for this article, neither party has made a statement on what happened, and only time will tell if the public will hear what happened with the couple.
