2024 is the year of Megan Thee Stallion. After a successful collaboration with rising singer-actress ReneĂ© Rapp on the hit song “Not My Fault,” Megan has dropped a brand new song, and let me tell you, it’s *good*. On Jan. 26, the rapper released her new single “Hiss” which many are taking as a diss track of all who’ve had something negative to say about her over the last few years. A few hours after Megan dropped the single, she released the accompanying music video that goes along with the snake theme she showcased in the music video for her hit single “Cobra.” The serpentine music video begins with Megan inside a snake egg. As the video continues, the rapper shows off different visuals and snake references while rocking some stunning looks.Â
If you haven’t seen this video yet, what are you waiting for? Megan delivered yet another work of art and at this rate, she’s on her way to making 2024 the year of the snake. Just sayin’! Â
With this new era of Megan, I can already tell that this is going to be her biggest and brightest year yet.
The music video has references to Tina Snow.
If you’ve been listening to Megan for a while, you probably know (and love) Tina Snow. Created after her love for Tony Snow (an alter ego of Pimp C), Megan formed Tina Snow as her alter ego. Megan has said that Tina’s “the more raw version” of herself. The rapper definitely tapped into her raw side when making “Hiss” because she didn’t hold back as she got a lot of different things off of her chest. Megan also embraced Tina Snow when recording the music video for “Hiss.” We get a glimpse at Megan looking at Tina Snow in the mirror during the music video, paying tribute to her alter ego.
As well as the Tina Snow cameo, the beginning of the music video mentions that “Hiss” is presented by Megan The Stallion and Tina Snow. I don’t know about you, but I’m screaming over the Tina Snow references already.
The Hiss music video provides us with new visuals.
When it comes to visuals, Megan never disappoints us. The “Hiss” music video pays tribute to her last hit single, “Cobra,” which was released in November 2023. The video begins with Megan inside a snake egg being ready to be hatched, signifying somewhat of a rebirth for her.
The video’s visuals foreshadow the usage of snakes and reptiles. Even the cover art of the song has a white snake. Megan has previously mentioned that this song is a message to those people in her life who’ve done her wrong and who she wants nothing to do with. The snakes surrounding Megan in the video represent all the individuals in her life who’ve hurt her, but she’s taking control of the narrative and spinning all of the wrongdoings onto them.Â
We don’t exactly have a release date for Megan’s next album, but it seems that one thing is for sure: this new era of Megan Thee Stallion is here to stay.
