Miley has finally spoken out about her recent performance at the VMA’s: and it’s not that she regrets what she did. It’s that she doesn’t pay attention to the negative.
“Me and Robin [Thicke] the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,’ ” Cyrus, 20, says in a video clip recorded last week and obtained by MTV. And make history she certainly did; everyone has been talking about her since her raunchy performance.
Cyrus seems to be playing down her performance when she says that people are “overthinking it”. She even goes as far as to say that she “didn’t even think about it, ‘cause that’s just [her]”. Wow. We think it’s safe to say that she’s in the minority by not thinking about it since this story has been major news over the past few days.
She thinks it’s “amazing” that people are still talking about her performance.
Interestingly, she points out that what she did is nothing new: she, quite rightly, says that Madonna and Britney Spears are just two examples of stars who shocked audiences at the VMA’s.
Cyrus claims that previous VMA performances, such as Britney and Madonna’s, have shown her that she shouldn’t pay attention to the negative, that she’s “seen it all play out so many times”.
The reaction to Miley’s twerking has been incredible: she even managed to surpass Beyonce’s Superbowl performance record for the most Tweets per minute.
The clip was filmed by MTV three days after her infamous performance. MTV are also set to release a documentary about Miley, which is airing this fall.
