Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown is responding to backlash coming from her reveal, during an interview with Access on the Emmys red carpet, that she and Drake text all the time.
“Ahh, I love him,” Millie said when asked about her unlikely friendship with Drake. “I met him in Australia and he’s honestly so fantastic and a great friend, and a great role model.”
“We just texted each other the other day and he was like, ‘I miss you so much,’ and I was like ‘I miss you more,'” she continued. “He’s coming to Atlanta and I’m definitely going to go and see him. I’m so excited. [Drake gives me advice] about boys, he helps me. He’s great. He’s wonderful. I love him.”
Following the shock and distaste from fans and others on social media to the Stranger Things star saying that she receives dating advice from Drake, Millie went on her Instagram Story to share her thoughts. “Why u gotta make a lovey friendship ur headline? You guys are weird… for real,” she wrote. “I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life. You don’t get to choose that for me. It’s nice to have people who understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez.”
The two first met at a Drake concert in Brisbane in November 2017, when Millie went back stage. They later shared a snap on each of their Instagrams. “This guy…”, she wrote to her 17 million followers. Drake later also shared a picture of the two of them with the caption, “Hawkins Very Own”.
