What In The World
On Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron addressed the nation and vowed that France rebuilds Notre Dame in five years after the famous landmark suffered major damages from a devastating fire. He also asked the people of France to come together despite the turmoil and violent street protests.
“We will rebuild Notre Dame even more beautiful and I want it to be completed in five years, we can do it,” Macron said, per Reuters. “It is up to us to convert this disaster into an opportunity to come together, having deeply reflected on what we have been and what we have to be and become better than we are. It is up to us to find the thread of our national project.”

Notre Dame Cathedral caught on fire on Monday, and around 500 firefighters worked for several hours to contain the blaze. According to ABC News, a lot of the building was and about 80 percent of the artifacts were saved. The entire wooden roof was destroyed.
According to The New York Times, investigators are currently treating the fire as an accident. Authorities are looking into whether or not the massive fire started from an electrical problem, The New York Post reports.
CNN reports that three of the richest families in France have donated to the reconstruction project. The Arnault, Bettencourt Meyers, and Pinault families have collectively donated $565 million to the rebuilding of Notre Dame. So far, the fund has raised $845 million in donation pledges, Reuters reports.
In his address, Macron also said that France has an opportunity to come together and work towards a common goal. The country has recently experienced turmoil with the “yellow vest” protests.
“I truly believe that it is up to us to transform this disaster into an opportunity to come together, having deeply reflected on what we have been, what we have to be and becoming better than we are,” Macron said, per Reuters. “It is up to us to find the thread of our national project that made us, that unites us, a human project.”
Rumor Has It
There’s nothing worse than a spoiler. Ahead of Marvel’s release of Avengers: Endgame, major spoilers were leaked on the internet Monday night.
The film has been kept hidden in so much secrecy that even journalists weren’t allowed to see the film before the premiere, CNBC reports. Now, Marvel fans are being warned to stay away from social media after footage from the movie was leaked.
People who have seen the footage called it “spoiler heavy,” with screenshots, gifs, short clips, and detailed posts about what happened all over social media.
The directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, released a joint statement.

Effen’s new Rosé Vodka tastes very similar to your everyday bottle of rosé, according to the company’s press release. Like a rosé, the vodka has fruit and floral notes. But it incorporates something a little different. Per Effin, this 75-proof vodka has hints of fruit with flavors of honey and vanilla. Yes, you read that right—honey.
But, what do you actually mix with Effen’s Rosé Vodka? The company recommends mixing rosé-flavored vodka with soda or sparkling wine. The distillery also mentions that it mixes well with Prosecco or in a Cosmopolitan.
I don’t know about you guys, but I think I’ve found my new favorite summer drink. Cheers!
