Morning! While you were sleeping (or staying up to binge-watch Friends for the tenth time, or pulling an all-nighter in the library), a few things went down that you’ll probably want to know about. So grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and get scrolling.
What in the World
A woman who wanted to beat the world record for running a marathon dressed in a nurse’s outfit was denied despite her success, CNN reported. Jessica Anderson, a nurse at the Royal London Hospital, didn’t receive the marathon world record because she wore pants instead of a skirt.
Anderson said that the Guinness World Records wouldn’t reconsider her application.
“I was quite taken aback when I read that they’d rejected my application and I did email them to ask them to reconsider but they said no,” Anderson told Runner’s World. “I get that it’s supposed to be a fun thing but their definition is just so outdated. Some of the nurses I work with do wear dressed but mostly we wear scrubs or a tunic and trousers. I’ve certainly never seen a male nurse wearing a dress to work.”
Anderson ran in her scrubs, which she said is her everyday uniform she wears to work, CNN reported. The Guinness World Records reportedly told Anderson her scrubs were too close to a doctors uniform, per CNN.
“I’m sure Guinness World Records don’t intend to cause offense, but it would be nice if they decided to revise their criteria instead of reinforcing old gender stereotypes,” Anderson said, per Runner’s World.
She was reportedly told before the race to wear a blue and white dress, apron and a traditional nurse’s cap, according to BBC.
Guinness World Records released a statement on Sunday that it would soon review its outfit requirements for the category.
“Inclusiveness and respect are values that Guinness World Records holds extremely dear, and while we always need to ensure we can differentiate between categories, it is quite clear that this record title is long overdue a review, which we will conduct as a priority in the coming days,” the organization said, per CNN.
It’s not clear whether or not the organization will reconsider its decision about Anderson and her bid to beat the record.
Anderson has received a ton of support from many people on social media, and have used the hashtag #WhatNursesWear to draw attention to the fact that many nurses wear scrubs for work. People on Twitter have even used the hashtag to ask Guinness World Records to change its decision.
#WhatNursesWear still in nurses uniform! @GWR time to change the rule! If it was a man it would not be an issue! pic.twitter.com/K4rolvOZ86

Overturn the ruling @GWR, this is #WhatNursesWear. Offensive gender stereotypes have no place in our wonderful profession. #StNProject pic.twitter.com/OeC5VeXrik

Then This Happened
On Sunday, President Donald Trump announced that he has chosen Mark Morgan, former Obama administration Border Patrol chief, to head the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“I am pleased to inform all of those that believe in a strong, fair and sound Immigration Policy that Mark Morgan will be joining the Trump Administration as the head of our hard working men and women of ICE,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Mark is a true believer and American Patriot. He will do a great job!”

Morgan was a former FBI agent and head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the end of President Obama’s administration, Huffington Post reported.
He was removed when Trump came into office, but supported many of the president’s stances on immigration, specifically the border wall, according to The New York Times. He also said in an interview with Fox that he supported Trump’s idea of sending migrants crossing the border to sanctuary cities.
“I’ve been there. The Border Patrol, ICE, their facilities are overwhelmed, the faith-based organizations and other nongovernmental organizations are overwhelmed,” Morgan said in the interview. “They have no choice. They’re going to have to start pushing these individuals out. Shouldn’t we kind of share the burden throughout the country?”
Trump’s choice comes after he pulled his last nominee for the position, the acting director Ronald Vitiello in April, The Times reported.
Morgan will need to go through Senate confirmation before taking the position.
