Netflix’s ‘One Day’ Has TikTok In Shambles, & Rightfully So

If you’ve been crying and questioning everything after watching Netflix’s latest series One Day, you’re not alone. The romantic series takes viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions, ultimately shattering hearts with that heartbreaking ending. IYKYK.

One Day, a 14-episode series, follows the story of Emma Morley (Ambika Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall) over two decades. According to Netflix’s official description, “After spending graduation night together, Emma and Dexter go their separate ways – but their lives remain intertwined.”

If the title sounds familiar to you, odds are, it probably is. The Netflix series is an adaptation of the 2011 One Day film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Strgees. One Day was originally adapted from David Nicholls’ novel One Day, released in 2009. So, if you’ve already finished the book, or the movie, (or both!), you should definitely check out the series.

Over the years, Emma and Dex grow as friends, and ultimately end up falling in love after a decade. They have moments that will make you laugh, question love, and cry. If stories about emotionally unavailable characters with poor communication skills are of interest to you, One Day is a series to check out.

I don’t know about you, but my TikTok FYP has been flooded with One Day content since its release on Feb. 8, and TBH, I’m not mad about it. However, I have had to close the app so I don’t cry over the Normal People x One Day edits I’ve been seeing. Those are too much to handle.

If you have yet to watch One Day, a fair warning that this show will make you cry. So if you’re not looking for something like that, perhaps wait a bit. Fans of the series have been quick to share their reactions to the show on social media, particularly TikTok. And yes, a lot of these videos focus on that horrible ending.

As somebody who has never gotten over Normal People, I stand by this video.

Personally, I wish I never saw this.

Still have not recovered from either series.

When Emma said this, the world stopped.

I’m literally going to need weeks of recovery time. I was not prepared. That is all. #oneday #netflix #fyp #onedaynetflix #leowoodall #ambikamod @Netflix @Netflix Clips #netflixshows #limitedseries #netflixrecommendation

Yes, this is how I feel too.

The moral of the story is, that if you need a good cry, watch One Day. If you have yet to recover from Normal People, maybe don’t watch it. Or do, I don’t make the rules here!
