Netflix Released the First Trailer for ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Just in Time for Spooky Season

After teasing fans for months with small glimpses of the Sabrina reboot, Netflix has finally released the first trailer of the highly anticipated show, and it’s just in time for our Halloween spooky movie season.

The official trailer for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina begins with the strike of a match and the lighting of 16 blood-red candles on a birthday cake. In the background, a eerie voice sings “Happy Birthday.” Kiernan Shipka, who stars as the titular teenage witch, told Vulture earlier this month that the first episode of the Sabrina reboot would take place on the teenage witch’s 16th birthday, which is considered the “Dark Baptism” in the witches’ world.

According to Elle, as part of the “Dark Baptism,” Sabrina is expected to sign her name in Satan’s book and renounce her mortality, including her mortal boyfriend, Harvey, who we kept a quick glimpse of in the trailer.

Sounds spooky already!

While Shipka didn’t reveal if Sabrina embraces satanic witchcraft or not, she did say that the teenage witch will face an inner moral struggle.

Riverdale creator Aguirre-Sacasa will direct, and executive produce, this dark coming of age story, alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger, Variety reports.

The first season of Sabrina launches October 26 on Netflix.

Safe to say, the trailer certainly makes the show look absolutely creep-tastic and I’ll definitely be adding it to my Halloween lineup!
