No, Pink Wasn’t Throwing Shade at Christina Aguilera’s AMAs Performance

Sunday night’s American Music Awards featured many amazing performances from our favorite artists. One of the big moments of the night was when Christina Aguilera paid tribute to the 25th anniversary of the classic film The Bodyguard, singing a medley of Whitney Houston songs. During Xtina’s performance, as the camera panned throughout the crowd, Pink’s reaction was instantly criticized.

Many Twitter users were quick to point out that Pink’s facial expression made it look like she wasn’t enjoying Christina’s performance.

Some people tried to link Pink’s grimace to the feud the two singers had over their collaboration on 2001’s “Lady Marmalade.” (Apparently they disagreed about who would get to sing the best parts of the song.) Just one tiny hiccup, though: The pop stars made up last year.

So, what gives? Pink shut down the haters by tweeting, “Yes. THIS. Christina f–king killed it tonight for one of our favorite singers ever. This about Whitney, and I am in awe of Christina’s talent. Show the clip where I’m in tears, you negative Nancy’s.”

This seems to, once again, be an example of the Twittersphere blowing something out of proportion. Not every camera shot or facial expression needs to be part of some overarching drama. Just let Pink and Xtina be!
