Hollywood doesn’t have the nickname “Hollyweird” for nothing. Recently, some pretty strange couples have emerged from the pool of beautiful people, proving that there really may be something in the water of LA. You may not understand what these stars see in each other, but it’ll all be over in a month or two anyway, right?
1. Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll
How could Leslie Knope be dating The Douche? Although diehard Parks and Recreation fans may be initally shocked by this odd love connection, Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll kind of make sense. In real life, Nick Kroll is actually a hilarious guy, starring in The League and his own sketch TV show, Kroll Show. Poehler’s former husband, Will Arnett, was a comedy titan as well, so it’s clear she’s got a thing for the class clowns. Even though they probably keep each other constantly laughing, their relationship is no joke. And if this means there will be some Amy Poehler cameos on Kroll Show and some more Douche on Parks and Rec, then who are we to complain?
2. Leighton Meester and Adam Brody
Who knew that Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl would end up with Seth Cohen from The OC? Although Brody is known for playing geeky (read: adorable) characters, he knows how to use that awkwardness to attract beautiful women. Although we can’t really imagine either of them with anyone else but Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) and Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson), they do make a cute couple. Is it weird that the fictional children of Josh Schwartz (creator of both Gossip Girl and The OC) have crossed alternate universes and sound stages to date each other? Has this relationship created a glitch in the matrix? Maybe, but we don’t hate it.
3. Ellen Page and Alexandar Skarsgard
Most collegiettes have Ellen Page ingrained in their minds as Juno, quirky protagonist of the teenage pregnancy comedy of the same name. However, our little girl’s all grown up and dating a Swedish hunk. Skarsgard is best known for his role as Eric Northman on True Blood. A 1000 + year old vampire hooking with up a teen mom? It sounds like a new idea for a MTV show, but stranger things have happened. Still, it is uncertain whether or not these two are actually a couple as sources stated that they were not dating after a cute couple-esque picture was tweeted by Zal Batmanglij, director of The East.
The jury’s still out on this one, so all you Skarsgard lovers can rest safe another day.
4.Selena Gomez and Ed Sheeran
The same, however, cannot be said for Sheeran fans. Collegiettes know what it’s like to be helplessly attracted to musicians, and Selena Gomez is no exception. However, Ed is said to be the exact opposite of Selena’s dramatic and trouble-making former BF, Justin Beiber, so this may just be the change that she needs. Besides that, he’s got the T-Swift stamp of approval (since he’s playing on her “Red” tour and there were reports that they even previously dated), so maybe their relationship isn’t so baffling after all. What is most uncertain about it is whether or not their relationship actually exists. E! stated that they were not dating in late June, but more recently, other pop culture outlets have declared them a couple. If Ed Sheeran is the unoffical Ron Weasley of the real world, does that mean Selena is our new Hermione? Only time will tell with these two, but one thing’s for sure, Selena will still be hated by tween girls across the country for having the guy they all want.
If you’re not pleased with any of these recent match-ups, just wait a few months. These couples will probably break up and enter into another relationship that doesn’t make any sense before you know it. With so many celebrities in one small town, there’s an infinite number of crazy love combinations, and we can’t wait to see them all.
