The third and likely final film of the Pitch Perfect series has already been in theaters for over a week, and even if you haven’t managed to see the new movie yet, it’s so easy to feel nostalgic about the series and how unexpected its success truly was. Apparently, the cast members are feeling just as reminiscent, and a few of them have taken to social media to share incredible throwback footage of the franchise’s early days.
Hello Giggles reports that Skylar Astin, who played Jesse in the first two films and is married to Pitch Perfect co-star Anna Camp, shared footage on Instagram of the first film’s rehearsal process. The video clip shows Astin and his fellow Treblemakers going over choreography for their performance numbers. Absent from the footage is a then-unknown Ben Platt, who played last-minute Treblemaker Benji, but a choreographer is seen running through his moves.
It’s clear that, without the pressure of creating a highly anticipated movie, the guys had the time of their lives practicing together. Of course, being a female-focused franchise, it wouldn’t be a true Pitch Perfect throwback without a behind-the-scenes look at the Barden Bellas. Rebel Wilson, or Fat Amy, also posted footage of the Bellas putting together a revision video for one of their own routines.
Alongside the video, Wilson wrote, “Anna Camp texted us Bellas this super early rehearsal video from Pitch Perfect 1 back in 2011 and it brought up so many memories…look at how far we’ve come since this vid.”
Most adorably, Wilson revealed that the Bellas used to coordinate their rehearsal outfits. How cute!
I won’t be very disappointed if Pitch Perfect 3 is the last addition to this series, but it’s so nice to look back at where it all began. I’m grateful for this cast for helping to create fun, entertaining films for us all to enjoy over the past five years.Â
