Well, apparently, we don’t know anything. At least that’s the message that “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart is sending us after breakup rumors surrounding her and co-star Cole Sprouse sprouted earlier this week. The two actors have broken their silence and are trolling everyone on social media over the rumors. It’s safe to say that Reinhart and Sprouse are fed up with the assumptions.
Reinhart took to Instagram on Thursday to clap back at the trolls who think they know everything about her relationship with Sprouse. Posting a photo of herself and Sprouse on the cover of W Magazine sharing an embrace, the 22-year-old actress captioned the photo, “BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know s–t.”
Sprouse also posted the cover photo with a caption reading, “UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult.”
“Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids,” Reinhart also tweeted. “And news sources should try a little harder to be less vile. ‘Reliable sources’ can kiss my a–.”

Rumors had been swirling about Reinhart and Sprouse’s split since the “Riverdale” cast attended Comic-Con on Monday. A “reliable source” had told media outlets that the couple had called it quits.
For their W Magazine cover story, released Thursday, Reinhart and Sprouse allegedly chose to be interviewed separately. The interviews took place in May, two months before breakup rumors emerged, E! News reports.
“I’m so glad we’re making your job more difficult,” Sprouse told the interviewer.
“We’re not fighting with the idea that people group us together, but we are paired up a lot,” Reinhart explained during the May interview. “We’re acknowledging that we’re in a relationship, but it’s a small part of who we are as people. We want our own separate identities.”
Discussing the separate interviews, Sprouse said, “Lili is an incredibly talented individual who speaks for herself and deserves her own voice box in every single way. That alone is justification enough for me to do it like this. I don’t think we’re weaving two different narratives here.”
According to the interview, Reinhart admitted that, at first, she “didn’t want things private” regarding her relationship with Sprouse, Hello Giggles reports.
“Now that I’m X amount of years in, I do appreciate the privacy we have, that he’s encouraged me to take,” she shared. “No one knows how long we’ve been together, and no one will until we’re ready to say it. No one knows how we fell in love, except for our close friends and us. It’s really special.”
“If and when we break up on the show, I don’t know,” Reinhart said, referencing their characters on “Riverdale.” “It’s weird being with an actor. You deal with s–t no one has to deal with.”
It was noted in the article, however, that the couple looked like they were heading for a breakup, Cosmopolitan reports.
Addressing the fascination surrounding his relationship with Reinhart, Sprouse said, “Until you go through the paces and the dating stages and know that something is right for you, I don’t think it’s appropriate to bring others in. I think part of the fun that the audience had, and still has, is going: What’s up with them right now? It’s interesting! But in all honesty, my own happiness and her happiness come before caring about what people are saying.”
Sprouse and Reinhart are right — it’s their happiness that matters, and the only ones that should know about their relationship are them. Regardless if they are still together or not, we are still cheering Reinhart and Sprouse on and respect their space.
