Love may (or may not) be dead. There are rumors swirling around that Gen Z’s favorite sweethearts, Ross Lynch and Jaz Sinclair, broke up after roughly four years of dating. Her Campus reached out to Lynch’s and Sinclair’s teams for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication. Neither actor has released any official statement regarding their supposed breakup, but Lynch’s comments on stage at his most recent concert sent TikTok into a spiral.
The Driver Era (Lynch’s band with his brother Rocky) performed at The Greek in Los Angeles on June 11. TikTok user @salty_plum7 posted a video of Lynch speaking at his piano in between songs. In the video, he says, “I didn’t know it could get worse, though, you know? But the thing about heartbreak is… the only thing that really helps is music.” The clip only lasts 25 seconds, but it was enough to start rumors about what (or who) Lynch was referring to.
Although the video doesn’t show his entire speech, he seems to be talking about the concept of heartbreak in general. However, some fans understood his comments to mean that he’s heartbroken over Sinclair. Needless to say, they didn’t take the news well:
The couple met on the set of Netflix’s supernatural teen horror Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in 2018, where their chemistry IRL prompted the writers to set their characters up in a slow-burn romance. The actors credited their sparks to being close friends off-set, but after they were spotted kissing on New Year’s Eve in 2019, they became much more open about their relationship both in interviews and online. Their sweet interactions have made them one of social media’s favorite low-key couples.
Don’t crush your candy hearts just yet: There’s still hope that Raz is alive and thriving! The Driver Era stans pointed out that the band played their song “San Francisco” after Lynch’s monologue, which is reportedly about his ex-girlfriend Courtney Eaton. Lynch and Sinclair still follow each other on Instagram and have multiple posts together on both of their accounts. The couple is pretty private, but their latest photodump (posted on Lynch’s page in October 2022) shows them kissing and cuddling around the world. Lynch captioned the pictures, “She makes me so happy :).”
Nothing is official until Lynch or Sinclair confirm or deny the rumors themselves. The Driver Era is set to embark on the European leg of their tour after their New York show on June 14, so it’s likely that the soonest comment on the rumors (if any) will come from the same person who sparked them.
