It’s been only a month since Lemonade was released, but rumor has it that Beyoncé is releasing yet another album—this time, with Jay Z. Sources confirmed to Page Six that the Carters have finished recording a “surprise” album and will be dropping it on Jay’s streaming service Tidal “very soon.”
Beyoncé’s Lemonade, with its revealing lyrics about an unfaithful spouse, led to a media frenzy. Online publications devoted much time to “Becky with the good hair” investigative pieces, with Rachel Roy and Rita Ora most commonly accused of being the other woman. Neither Jay or Beyoncé have made a statement to clear up the rumors, and it doesn’t seem like they plan on doing so. As one Page Six source notes, “Jay and Beyoncé were never going to do an interview to address all the questions that came up after Lemonade. It’s more their style to respond through music.”
Bey and Jay’s previous collaborations include the iconic 2003 track “Crazy in Love” and more recently, “Drunk in Love” off Beyoncé’s 2014 album. People have speculated for years about the musical power couple recording an album together, and it looks like the time has finally come.
Keep in mind that Beyoncé is in the midst of her Formation World Tour at the moment, so we can’t be certain that she has time in her busy schedule to record and release an album with her husband. But hey, anything’s possible for Queen Bey.
