Spoiler warning: Spoilers for Selling Sunset Season 6 follow. To quote another iconic reality TV show, “this is the most dramatic season yet.” This time, however, I’m referring to the Palm Springs getaway in Selling Sunset Season 6, which premiered on Netflix on May 19. Jason Oppenheim really jinxed it by saying “I hope everyone gets along in Palm Springs” during his dinner with Chrishell Stause. We all knew that wasn’t going to happen.
What was actually the most surprising to me was that Oppenheim was footing the entire bill for the 20-acre villa. Those are some good benefits! But despite this nice perk, things went south pretty quick. From Mary Fitzgerald’s Pandora box of suggestions to Nicole Young being unhappy with the rooms in the villa, this Palm Springs trip was doomed from the start. If you found yourself getting overwhelmed by the endless drama, don’t worry — I’m here to break down everything that went down in Palm Springs.
ON Night one, Chrishell throws a bombshell accusation at Nicole.
Towards the beginning of the trip, Mary announces that she and Romain are going to start trying to have a baby. And since they were on the topic of sex, Chelsea asks if any of the women had had sex in The Oppenheim Group office. (To Nicole’s disgust, Chrishell admits to it.)
When Chelsea decides to bring up the tension between the group, Chrishell is quick to say that her and Nicole’s drama was previously squashed with Mary. That doesn’t seem to be the case, however. Emma Hernan takes this opportunity to hash out her feelings towards the situation. She swears Nicole made a dig at Chrishell and Jason’s relationship in her birthday post for his new girlfriend. In the post, Nicole said he looks so much happier in this relationship (as opposed to his relationship with Chrishell), which she swears wasn’t a dig. Nicole goes on to say that she learned Chrishell had restrictions on when Jason could use his phone and treated Nicole differently while they were together.
Chrishell is surprised at the accusation, claiming that Nicole “made up a rumor that didn’t exist.” Things escalate very quickly, leading to an argument about their Instagram Stories. Chrishell had previously ranted on her account about Nicole but didn’t tag her, adding that she didn’t want to because “it’d give you more followers.” I don’t like the women versus women dynamic of this season, but damn, that comment made me laugh.
Chrishell tells Nicole not to threaten her, and Nicole replies that since she wasn’t being listened to, she was going to move on. Chrishell then says, “I’m sure you’re going to ‘cause you don’t have any points and you’re on drugs.”
I was honestly flabbergasted when she said this seemingly out of nowhere. I think this was the first time the cast of the show was actually silent for a minute. Chrishell even goes on to accuse Nicole of taking a “bunch of drugs” at Mary’s bachelorette party — an accusation that led to further drama the next morning.
The next day, Nicole takes a drug test.
Nicole is nowhere to be seen in the morning. When she finally makes her first appearance for the day, she shows Mary and Chelsea the paper she got from her secret drug test that morning. She says she plans to consult with an attorneys, shocking the two women: She wants to sue Chrishell for defamation of character if she keeps making accusations like this.
On night two, Chelsea disapproves of Bre and Nick Cannon.
At the start of dinner that night, the women fill Bre and Amanza in on the drama that has unraveled so far (without Chrishell or Emma Hernan in attendance). The tension between Bre and Chelsea is thick again: Chelsea clearly has strong beliefs as a Christian, can’t understand a non-monogamous relationship, and is trying to make Nick Cannon and Bre, who have an open relationship, into villains. She even calls their choice to have an open relationship “a disgrace to the children,” which doesn’t go over well.
Nicole finally gets her negative drug test back, but Chrishell doesn’t believe the test is real. In conclusion to this chaotic trip, I just want to know who thought a vacation with all your co-workers was a good idea? At least it was charged to Jason.
