Pretty Little Liars obsessives rejoice: we’re officially going to be seeing more of Shay Mitchell and PLL creator I. Marlene King and we couldn’t be more excited.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mitchell and King are officially teaming up for a new ABC drama called The Heiresses (based on another one of Sara Shepard’s book series!), in which Mitchell stars as one of two Heiresses to the Saybrook family fortune. After a deadly crash one year ago, Mitchell’s character and her cousin are no longer speaking — but a tragedy brings them together as they try to figure out who wants their high-profile family dead.
If that’s not enough to pique your interest, the show is already being described as Gossip Girl-meets-Pretty Little Liars, meaning we already know we’re going to be obsessed. (As if we could not love anything written and produced by the creator of one of our all-time favorite shows.) ABC is reportedly giving it the put-pilot treatment, meaning the show is pretty much guaranteed to stick around past the pilot episode.
Despite the fact that Pretty Little Liars officially ended three months ago (and we’re still sad about it, TBH), it sounds like King and the former cast are going to stay super busy. In addition to The Heiresses, Freeform announced earlier this week that a PLL spinoff starring Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish is also in the works — meaning we can mourn the loss of PLL at least (a little) less than we thought.
