If you’re anything like me, you’ve been impatiently waiting for Season 3 of Bridgerton to come out since Kate and Anthony’s story wrapped up Season 2 back in 2022. And while we’ve had the Queen Charlotte spinoff to keep us busy in the meantime, it’s the main stars of the original show that I’ve really been hoping to see more of lately. That includes Simone Ashley, who stunned as Kate in Season 2 and also rose to fame for her role on Sex Education. Well, now, you can catch Ashley on your local movie theater screen thanks to her cameo in The Little Mermaid live-action remake. Talk about a wild crossover!
Ashley appears in the film as Indira, one of Ariel’s sisters. In the remake, Ariel’s sisters are in charge of the seven seas and report back to King Triton — in other words, they’re doing a bit more than just the singing choir show they appeared in in the original 1989 animated film. Though Ashley’s cameo is super brief (after all, most of The Little Mermaid actually takes place above water), it’s still such a fun surprise.
Ashley has been looking gorgeous at the film’s red carpets, and has shared a few thoughts about her experience working on the film on Instagram. In a post to celebrate the premiere and red carpet on May 16, Ashley wrote, “This movie is so, so special. And I’m so grateful to be part of it, @hallebailey you shine strong and you shine bright. ✨🧜🏾♀️
What a magical evening I won’t forget celebrating with my friends and family 💕.”
In an interview with Critqal on the red carpet at the London premiere, Ashley sang Halle Bailey’s praises even more, calling her “the most magical, amazing, incredible Ariel you’ve ever seen.” She also said that her favorite memories were filming the scenes together with her mermaid sisters. It truly does seem like Ashley and Bailey have become close after fans spotted them holding hands together on the carpet. My heart!
Fans React To SimonE Ashley in The Little Mermaid
As for fan reactions to her part, Ashley has a strong following that’s been super supportive of her so far.
Her cameo might be really short, but it’s safe to say she nailed it. Now, how much longer do I have to wait until I can see her as Kate again?
