Let’s Talk About This ‘1989’ Triple Album Theory Because I Need Answers

For Swifties, life has been full of excitement lately, between preparing for the Eras Tour concert movie, counting down the days until the release of Taylor Swift’s 1989 re-record, and keeping an eye out for the singer at Kansas City Chiefs’ games. Along with all of this, fans have also  been doing what they do best: looking for potential Easter eggs from Swift. Some of the most common ones people like to theorize about are song/ album titles and potential collabs. The most recent theory as that’s been going around is that Swift’s planning a triple album release with 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which drops on Oct. 27.

Now, this isn’t the first time that fans have theorized about a three-album drop. The first time this happened was when Swift released both Folklore and Evermore back in 2020. At the time, fans were convinced she was also dropping a third album titled Woodvale (some are still convinced it’s in a vault somewhere.) Thanks to Swiftie detectives on TikTok, fans are speculating we may get more than one album on Oct. 27.

The theory started circulating online thanks to users like @eurosweetheart on TikTok. In a video posted on Oct. 4, she said, “Not Taylor wearing a Shania Twain t-shirt. Now if you don’t know, Shania Twain’s album, Up, had three versions: pop, country, and international indie. The reason this is significant is because I think she knows that we have been clowning about a double or triple album for 1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

She goes on to talk about a post that Swift made back in 2021 that had the caption “Country girls can’t go pop,” along with pictures of Twain proving that country girls can, indeed, go pop. The TikToker explained, “[Swift] knows what she’s doing. She knows that by doing this we are going to connect that. So she’s  either clowning us because it’s not true and she wants us to keep clowning over it, or she’s doing it because it’s another Easter egg. She puts Easter eggs in her clothing. Because we still haven’t gotten any collabs on 1989 (Taylor’s Version). I’m still clowning, at least over a double album. What do you guys think?”

She went on to elaborate on this theory in another TikTok while pointing out Swift’s Louis Vuitton bag. She said, referencing the Shania Twain outfit, “This is the third time we’ve seen this Louis Vuitton bag. The first time being at the beginning of September [2023], the second time being at the first Chiefs game that she went to, and now a third time, when we’re clowning about a triple album theory. But that’s not all because this is called the camera box bag
The roman numerals, LV, as seen on this bag, add up to 55, With the roman numerals LV in the ‘Karma’ music video, 1989 is her fifth album, so 55 is two 5s, for the double album.”

She continued, “The main significance for that bag, though, was that 1989 was the era for polaroids, for cameras, and [Swift] was always seen holding this Olympus em10 digital camera that she was spotted using many times in the 1989 era.”

So what do you think? Are we getting a triple album or are Swifties just doing what they do best and looking into things that aren’t there? Regardless, I’m excited for the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and I can’t wait to see what she has planned next!
