Taylor Swift & Antoni Porowski’s Friendship Timeline Goes Way Back To 2014

Taylor Swift has been all over my social media feeds in recent weeks, and rightly so. Whether it’s Swift making headlines with her Eras Tour (which is set to hit theaters with a concert film on Oct. 13) or Swift being in a rumored relationship with football player Travis Kelce, it’s safe to say Swift has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks. Something I always love to hear about when Swift is in the media is her star-studded friend group. The latest A-lister she was seen with? Antoni Porowski, at the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets game at Metlife Stadium on Oct. 1. So are Taylor Swift and Antoni Porowski good friends? Here’s their relationship timeline.

If you want a quick recap on where everyone is at with Swift and Kelce’s relationship, Kelce went to the Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium in July and tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it. Since then, Swift has been seen in attendance at the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s football games, fueling reports of their possible budding romance. When Swift went to her second Kansas City Chiefs game, the one against the Jets, Swift wasn’t alone — she was joined by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski. Swift is known to have have the most iconic friendship squad, but her bond with Antoni Porowski struck my attention the most, as she has not been spotted with him since last year. For those who are unfamiliar with Porowski, he is the Netflix series Queer Eye’s food and wine expert, and his friendship with Swift has lasted nearly a decade.

2014: Porowski’s “Blank Space” Video Audition

Porowski revealed in a 2020 Instagram live interview with E! News that his first encounter with Swift was through an audition for the lead in Swift’s November 2014 music video for “Blank Space.” Porowski stated at the time that the music video went through several ideas, but he briefly discussed the audition process, noting, “There was a green screen, and I had to pretend I was being attacked by a lion … which was the most awkward thing.” While he did not land the job (it went to model Sean Richard O’Pry), it was an unusual way for the two to meet and begin their blooming relationship!

2019: Queer Eye cast appears in “You Need To Calm Down” Video

Nearly five years after Porowski’s audition for “Blank Space,” he and the other members of Queer Eye made an appearance in Swift’s 2019 music video, “You Need to Calm Down.” He told Entertainment Tonight that Swift personally invited him to join in the music video, and that he had a great time on set, saying, “Everything was carefully curated.” He further added his excitement towards LGBTQ+ representation in the music video, adding, “The video was about inclusivity and really promoting LGBTQIA+ talent and allies, and I think she did a tremendously good [and] respectful job in doing that.”

2019: Swift & Porowski attend Madonna’s Madame X Tour

Swift and Porowski were photographed by paparazzi attending Madonna’s 2019 Madame X Tour concert in Brooklyn in October 2019. Following the show, Swift shared an Instagram story with Porowski and other friends who accompanied the two. “Thank you Madonna for an outstanding show,” she captioned the picture. “Shout out to the phenomenal dancers, singers, musicians, set designers, crew, wardrobe, glam and M who gave it EVERYTHING.”

2022: Unexpected Instagram Post

There wasn’t much evidence of the Swift and Porowski hanging out after their concert performance until March 2022, when Porowski’s boyfriend, Kevin Harrington, shared a photo of the couple being photobombed by Swift on his Instagram. The image is a black-and-white picture of Harrington and Porowski seated on a couch, with Swift peering behind them. While it’s not clear what the event was for, Harrington added a witty remark to the couch in the image, saying, “Does anyone else remember the show Big Comfy Couch or was that just a fever dream I had?” Sorry, Harrington. I may not know Big Comfy Couch, but I am obsessed with this photo!

2023: Chiefs Game

There was no further mention of Swift and Porowski hanging out since the 2022 Instagram post until this year, when Swift appeared at the Kansas City Chiefs game with Porowski on Oct. 1. While the focus was primarily on Swfit’s attendance at another one of Kelce’s games, I think it’s adorable that her bond with Porowski is still going strong nearly 10 years later! Here’s to hopefully many more friendship sightings.
