Taylor Swift Put Those Olivia Rodrigo Feud Rumors To Rest At The Grammys

I had no idea I needed a rendition of Taylor Swift performing Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” in 2024, but now that the thought is in my head, I’m all in. ICYMI, a moment at the Grammys helped to dispel claims that the two music icons were feuding. And I love it for them.

If you are unfamiliar with the drama surrounding the two, it all began in May of 2021, shortly after Rodrigo released her smash debut album Sour.  Rodrigo revealed in one of her tracks, “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back,” that she was inspired by Swift’s song “New Year’s Day,” in which she sang her now-song lyrics “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back” over Swift’s chorus.

Sour eventually led to plagiarism claims after many fans pointed out similarities between some of her songs and those of her role models, like Taylor Swift. By July 2021, Rodrigo had offered writing credit to Swift and her producer, Jack Antonoff, for her song “Deja Vu” for its perceived similarities to “Cruel Summer.”

As the supposed feud raged on throughout 2023, Rodrigo was one of the first to cast the rumors aside in an interview with Rolling Stone for her album GUTS, stating, “I don’t have beef with anyone.” Rodrigo also said when she was asked about Swift, “I’m very chill. I keep to myself. I have my four friends and my mom, and that’s really the only people I talk to, ever.

Now, it’s Swift’s turn to shut down such speculations, as she showed her support for Rodrigo at the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony. During Rodrigo’s killer live performance of her smash hit “Vampire,” the camera swung to an enthusiastic Swift as she danced to and sang along with the lyrics.

Rodrigo also expressed her support at the awards ceremony, as Swift won the Pop Vocal Album category with her album Midnights. Rodrigo can be seen on camera applauding and cheering for the “Anti-Hero'” singer when her name was called out for the award.

X/Twitter users couldn’t help but show their excitement that the feud rumors had finally been put to rest in a variety of comments.

Is this interaction a sign of the two possibly having a future song collab? A girl can sure dream!
