Winning any legal battle is an immense success. However, when that legal battle impacts your physical and emotional well-being, then it’s fair to consider it a triumph. Though other Teen Mom OG stars have been the source of headlines for negative reasons, Maci Bookout’s ongoing legal battle with her ex (and father of her son Bentley) Ryan Edwards is headlining for positive reasons—because she finally got a restraining order against him.
Based on legal court documents, Radar Online reports that Bookout initially filed a restraining order against Edwards after he allegedly threatened to cause her physical harm for not answering her cell phone—yikes.
Regardless of how devout your Teen Mom OG fandom is, it’s totally acceptable (and encouraged) to celebrate Maci Bookout’s legal feat and safety. US Weekly notes that Bookout and her husband, Taylor McKinney, received a temporary restraining order back on April 2—however, they have since been working to get an extensive restraining order to protect themselves and their children.
After Bookout and McKinney filed for two separate orders of protection—one filed under Bookout’s three children vs. Edwards and the other as McKinney vs. Edwards—Bookout and her children were granted a two-year restraining order on May 21, according to E! News.
Honestly, we’re just glad that Bookout and her family are safe and they can start to ~feel~ a lot safer now that this protective order is in effect.
