Everything You Need To Know About ‘TSITP’ Season 2 (& A Recap Of Season 1)

Grab your popcorn and pull up your Amazon Prime account, because The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 is officially wrapped and set to stream! The hit show, based on the popular book by the To All the Boys I Loved Before author Jenny Han, follows the story of 15-year-old Isabella “Belly” Conklin on her adventure to Cousins Beach, a special place that she has visited every summer since she was born.

Belly practically lives for summers — going so far as to say that winter doesn’t count – and it’s not difficult to see why. After all, dreamboat brothers Jerimiah and Conrad will be there, and for Belly, the choice between them seems impossible. The Summer I Turned Pretty has an almost ineffable charm that can be attributed to both nostalgia and an objectively entertaining plot. The show really makes you feel fifteen again: there’s family drama, love triangles, secrets, and debutante balls – the familiar clichĂ© works perfectly to evoke feelings of longing and reminiscence for the puppy love factor that was oh-so-present in your teen years!

When is Season 2 of The Summer I turned Pretty coming out?

On May 5, Amazon Prime Video confirmed the release of another round of The Summer I Turned Pretty! Season 2 is set to premiere its first three episodes on Friday, July 14, 2023, and release new episodes every week until the season finale on Friday, August 18, 2023. Until then, though, stay excited! Additionally, it looks as though the original cast will be back to reprise their roles… along with a few new faces.

What happened in season 1?

If you’re stoked for season two but don’t feel like binge-watching the seven-episode first season again, then stick around for this quick recap of the key points from every The Summer I Turned Pretty season one episode that you’ll need to remember before starting season two this coming July.

Psst, there will be spoilers ahead for season one. Proceed at your own risk!

S1 E1: Summer House: In this episode, Belly, Laurel (Belly’s mom), and Steven (Belly’s brother), arrive at Susannah’s beach house for the summer. Belly’s ultimate wish is to kiss Conrad, her crush, but is upset to see him kissing another girl, Nicole, on a night when the beach town’s teens sneak out to a bonfire party. The cops get called and escort Belly home where she faces the wrath of her angry mother. Still, though, Belly manages to meet a new boy, Cam, and steals a kiss before the disastrous journey home.

S1 E2: Summer Dress: Belly agrees to Susannah’s idea that she join the debutante ball and the two go shopping. After, Belly goes to the country club for her first day of training. She is sat with Nicole (Conrad’s girlfriend) and Shayla (Steven’s girlfriend), who are both illegally drinking during the event. Cam asks Belly out on a date, which gets crashed by Conrad and the other teens who were supposed to attend Laurel’s party for her book launch. Belly argues with Conrad for ruining her date with Cam.

S1 E3: Summer Nights: It’s Belly’s 16th birthday! Conrad is still upset about the night before and does not give her a present. Belly and Taylor gossip after Belly’s first driving lesson and persuades her to attend Nicole’s party that night. At Belly’s birthday dinner, Conrad and the other boys try to embarrass Belly in front of Cam. Afterwards, they all go to Nicole’s party where Jeremiah sings karaoke to Belly, but not after she finds Taylor kissing Steven upstairs and gets upset. Belly finds a necklace in Conrad’s drawer and realizes that this was supposed to be his present for her birthday. In the end, Susannah reveals that she is going to stop chemotherapy.

S1 E4: Summer Heat: Conrad and Belly’s dads come to celebrate the Fourth of July and Belly’s dad brings his girlfriend, Victoria. Conrad’s father argues with Susannah, who does not want him to attend because he cheated on her. Belly gets drunk off of margaritas that Victoria made and flirts with Conrad who reveals that he bought her the necklace. Laurel and Susannah discuss end-of-life care and belly and Conrad almost share a kiss.

S1 E5: Summer Catch: Belly still hasn’t got an escort for the debutante ball. While at the country club for practice for the ball, Jeremiah shows up and dances with Belly. Conrad and Belly text and plan to meet up later that day. Cam takes Belly on a date where she breaks up with him. After, Conrad tells Belly he can’t be with her and that night, Jeremiah and Belly go swimming and kiss.

S1 E6: Summer Tides: Conrad asks Belly to the ball and she does not accept the invitation. Taylor advises Belly to choose Jeremiah over Conrad at the volleyball fundraiser. There, Taylor fakes an injury and partners Jeremiah and Belly. When they start to lose the game, Belly switches out Jeremiah for Conrad, and they both win the tournament. The girls attend Nicole’s boat party where they play Never Have I Ever. Eventually, the truth comes out that Jeremiah and Belly kissed. After, the teens go skinny dipping but ditch Taylor and Belly without any clothes. This act acts as Nicole’s revenge on Belly and Conrad. Jeremiah and Belly kiss again, and she invites him to the ball to be her date. Conrad gives Belly her birthday present.

S1 E7: Summer Love: Shyla gives Steven her dad’s tuxedo for the ball since he cannot afford his own. Belly kisses Jeremiah before leaving for the ball and Conrad wishes her good luck. Steven starts an argument with Belly and Jerimiah after seeing them kiss. Susannah, emotional, tells Belly at the ball that this may be the last summer they ever spend together. Jeremiah and Belly take photos together, but he disappears right before the waltz. It is then revealed that his disappearance is attributed to him finding out about his mother’s cancer. Conrad dances in Jeremiah’s place. Jeremiah and Conrad fight about their mother’s cancer, Herimiah being upset that Conrad knew before he did. Susannah splits the brothers up and realizes that everyone knows about her cancer. The series ends with Conrad and Belly kissing.

I don’t know about how you, but I can’t wait for season 2 after that recap. Can July come any sooner?
