Call me what you want, but if there’s one thing I’m obsessed with, it’s the zodiac signs of every reality television personality I come across. And when it comes to dating shows, like The Ultimatum, I find myself constantly analyzing every couple’s dynamic… and eventually researching what their zodiac compatibility is. So, when the newest season’s cast was announced, it should come as no surprise that I took it upon myself to find out the zodiac compatibility of The Ulimatum‘s Season 2 couples. Spoiler alert: Spoilers for Season 2 of The Ultimatum follow.
If you’re unfamiliar with (the glorious dumpster fire that is) The Ultimatum, allow me to brief you. The Ultimatum is a popular Netflix reality show that showcases five real couples who are caught in β you guessed it β an ultimatum: One person in the relationship is ready to settle down and get married, while the other is unsure. Instead of, I don’t know, sending these people to couples therapy, the cast switches partners and dates outside of their original partner for a period of time. Why? To see if their original love is real, of course. Duh.
As you can guess, this show rarely ends in a problem-free, fairytale finale, and that’s what makes it so popular amongst reality show fanatics like me. Additionally, if you’re an astrology enthusiast, The Ultimatum is a great show if you want to put the stars to the test, and analyze the zodiac compatibility of both the original pairs, and the new couples.
With The Ultimatum Season 2 streaming on Netflix, I’d say it’s time to look to the stars and ask the ultimate question: Who is more astrologically compatible, the OG couples, or the new pairings?
Riah & Trey Vs. Ryann & James
Hold on to your hats, kids β this is a doozy. Trey and Riah entered the show as a couple, but decided to give the good ‘ol ultimatum a go, pairing up with Ryann and James respectively (who also entered the show as a couple, and are high school sweethearts). It’s like Wife Swap, but worse!
Trey is an Aries, while Riah is a Cancer β as we know, fire and water do not mix well. While this coupling can be tumultuous at times, they also have the ability to bring out the unexpected in each other, which can be super beneficial for a relationship. Additionally, James (Sagittarius) and Ryann (Virgo) are also not-so-favorable when it comes to the stars, even less so than Trey and Riah. Fire and Earth signs may have a hard time connecting on a deeper, more emotional level. Mutual respect is a must, and if that’s not present, the relationship may be headed toward disaster.
On the flip, the new pairing of couples actually works… pretty well. As a Cancer, Riah may feel more emotionally, and creatively, connected to James’ Sagittarius energy. Similarly, with Trey being an Aries and Ryann being a Virgo, this couple is comprised of two very strong personalities, which often works in a relationship.

Roxanne & Antonio vs. Kat & Alex
A similar dynamic to the above, Antonio and Roxanne entered the show together and swapped with Alex and Kat. And if you thought the tea was hot with the other couple’s zodiac pairings, then buckle up.
Alex, unfortunately, doesn’t have his birthday information on any social media. However, his original partner, Kat, is an intuitive and emotional Scorpio. They’ve been together for two years and, judging by their Instagrams, have been on a ton of adventures together.
Roxanne is a Sagittarius, and her original partner, Antonio, is a Leo. While these signs are both fire signs, there is such a thing as too much heat. Due to their similarities, these signs can often clash. But, when compromise is in the picture, this relationship can be a flourishing and thriving one.
As for the new pairings, Kat and Antonio’s signs are similar in the way that they process and express emotions β Scorpio and Sagittarius are said to be a great pairing. However, Alex and Kat’s bond seems pretty strong (IMHO, I think he’s a Virgo), and I’m rooting for them. Sue me!

Lisa & Brian
If you’ve watched The Ultimatum, then you probably saw Lisa and Brian’s blowout fight in Episode 2. The pair later left in that same episode, neglecting the choosing ceremony and leaving the show together. Lisa is a Gemini, which could definitely explain her strong personality. Brian is a Sagittarius, and it totally checks out due to his fiery nature. Despite this couple’s flaws, they’re actually pretty compatible astrologically! They’re both spunky, opinionated, and able to handle each other. And I love that for them.
While astrology isn’t the end-all, be-all when it comes to relationships, it’s definitely a fun way to analyze them β especially on TV. With the finale of The Ultimatum Season 2 coming up on Aug. 30, there’s no telling who will marry, and who will move on. The stars, I’m lookin’ at you!
